Content Operations Associate | Lonely Planet
Lonely Planet, a leading travel media company, is seeking an Content Operations Associate with a passion for travel and at least 2 years experience in project management. This role presents an exciting opportunity to support the Lonely Planet Digital Content organization.
The ideal candidate will be an incredibly strong self-starter who loves to identify and solve problems. They will be able to balance multiple projects at once and be able to establish priorities across the digital team. Candidates should also have strong editorial judgment and facility with working in a fast-paced environment.
What You'll Do:
- Onboarding writers and other contributors in either Workday or RedGig or any other procurement partner chosen by Red Ventures; Creating Purchase Orders and ensuring contracts and other business-critical documentation has been executed
- Coordinate with the destination editor team on guidebook commissioning schedules, ensuring alignment between digital and print content planning in shared project management tools
- Oversee end-to-end writing test administration for potential contributors - maintaining test materials for various content types, coordinating review with editors, communicating results to candidates, and maintaining a database of test submissions and outcomes for future commissioning decisions
- Screen and triage all incoming contributor inquiries and unsolicited pitches through established channels (email, submission forms) - evaluate against current content needs, maintain organized records of submissions, provide timely standard responses, and escalate promising candidates to editorial leadership for review
- Update and maintain the Lonely Planet contributor database on a weekly basis (or more or less frequently as workflows dictate), including both print and digital contributors
- Liaise with editorial leadership on contract tracking and execution
- Work closely with Senior Content leaders to set and manage digital written content budgets and Copy Editing freelance budget, on a monthly and quarterly basis
- Track Lonely Planet’s digital written content budget and report monthly on spending trends and highlight potential overspending etc. via Google sheets prior to exporting to Asana and running Asana exports at month's end, as well as tracking and logging current POs.
- Manage the Google Content Calendar spreadsheet export to the Digital Content Asana board, tracking assignments, contacting editors with queries about scheduling as directed by the senior content team.
- Report daily published articles in the digital content report document and to the broader team on Slack.
- Manage both Asana and Helios workflows; troubleshoot as required
- Oversee resolution of Zendesk requests and track corrections to ensure they’re implemented across products.
What We're Looking For:
- 3+ years experience working in a fast-paced online environment
- Strong, self-starter with excellent time management, organization and problem-solving skills
- Excellent collaboration skills and ability to work seamlessly with broad, cross-functional teams
- Compassionate commitment to creating and maintaining relationships Lonely Planet’s stable of US-based contributors by responding to all concerns and queries in a timely manner
- Proficiency with Asana, CMS systems, Looker and GSuite (including Docs and Sheets) and ability and willingness to learn new systems to become proficient quicky
- Passionate about travel a plus
Compensation
- New York City Compensation Range: $50,000-60,000 *Note actual compensation is based on geographic location, qualifications, and experience.
