Corporate Counsel, Privacy Commercial
Accelerate your career by joining Okta as a member of our growing Privacy & Product legal team! As Corporate Counsel, Privacy Commercial, you will have primary responsibility for advising and supporting commercial legal and sales organizations supporting Okta’s customers in North America. You will apply your experience when providing legal guidance on privacy issues and drafting and negotiating data processing addenda and related commercial documents with some of the biggest names across every industry that trust Okta to help their organizations work faster, boost revenue, and stay secure.
What you’ll be doing
- Advise, draft, and negotiate privacy provisions and manage customer questions and compliance issues
- Provide day-to-day legal support and respond to legal requests from sales and other internal clients
- Ability to judge when to escalate identified issues as may be necessary
- Support the continuous improvement of privacy-related provisions in our contracts
- Develop and update internal enablement for Okta’s business teams and commercial legal team, including by providing internal training on emerging privacy laws and requirements
- Support go-to-market tasks and be willing to drive and contribute to other privacy-related initiatives
- Ensure Okta’s compliance with all applicable global privacy and data protection laws, including the General Data Protection Regulation, Japan APPI, United States’ federal and state regulation, and other global legal frameworks by monitoring and staying an expert and thought leader on global privacy laws and frameworks
What you’ll bring to the role
- US-licensed attorney with an active bar admission
- Minimum of 4 years experience
- Combination of law firm and in-house experience strongly preferred, including 2+ years specializing in privacy and data protection matters
- Familiarity and comfort with the culture of a high-growth enterprise software company
- Excellent written and verbal communication, presentation, drafting and negotiation skills
- Highly-responsive and service-oriented approach to driving projects to closure
- Team-oriented and collaborative – a self-starter with intellectual curiosity regarding legal and regulatory aspects of data privacy and security
- Ability to organize, prioritize, and manage deadlines
- Experience in and/or knowledge of software-as-a-service and technical concepts
- Certified Information Privacy Professional (Europe, U.S., Canada, and/or Asia) or Certified Information Privacy Manager is a plus

Below is the annual base salary range for candidates located in California, Colorado, New York and Washington. Your actual base salary will depend on factors such as your skills, qualifications, experience, and work location. In addition, Okta offers equity (where applicable), bonus, and benefits, including health, dental and vision insurance, 401(k), flexible spending account, and paid leave (including PTO and parental leave) in accordance with our applicable plans and policies. The annual base salary range for this position for candidates located in California (excluding San Francisco Bay Area), Colorado, New York, and Washington is between:$146,000—$244,000 USDWhat you can look forward to as an Okta employee!
