At Lyft, our mission is to improve people’s lives with the world’s best transportation. To do this, we start with our own community by creating an open, inclusive, and diverse organization.

Lyft is seeking a dynamic and self-motivated attorney to join the Product & Commercial Legal team. The successful candidate will be skilled at building strong relationships, working in the unknown while balancing legal and business risks, and comfortable working in a fast-paced and dynamic environment. The successful candidate also will be flexible and willing to evolve and contribute to the often-changing legal needs of our team and Lyft.

Responsibilities:
  • Learn Lyft’s overall rideshare business, how Lyft’s business-to-business rideshare products work, and the legal and regulatory framework in which Lyft and Lyft Healthcare operate to serve as a legal advisor for Lyft Healthcare and Lyft Business

  • Spot and analyze legal issues, including those related to contracts, healthcare, consumer protection laws, privacy, and employment
  • Prioritize workload to set goals and meet deadlines in a fluctuating and sometimes ambiguous business environment
  • Collaborate with legal team and business team members to improve processes and ensure business demands are satisfied
Experience:
  • Membership in a state bar with good standing
  • 4-6 years of legal experience working in healthcare, with a strong preference for a combination of law firm (2+ years) and in-house legal department experience (experience at a technology company as a product counsel is a plus)
  • Familiarity with Medicaid and Medicare Advantage program requirements, healthcare privacy guidelines, and compliance and ethics programs
  • Experience working on complex commercial transactions (e.g., Medicaid provider agreements, group purchasing organization agreements, customer and user facing terms of service, and Business Associate Agreements)
  • Excellent issue-spotting skills, attention to detail, problem-solving capabilities, communication (written and verbal), and interpersonal skills
  • Keen ability to collaborate, build trust, educate, and foster connections between legal and business colleagues
  • Willing and eager to take on new areas of law, new areas of responsibility, and to think creatively to apply traditional laws and regulations to Lyft’s technology platform and transportation network company business and, in particular, Lyft Healthcare
  • Good business and legal judgment, a caring, thoughtful, and team-focused mindset, and the ability to think quickly on your feet, convey grace under pressure, and operate autonomously while simultaneously managing workloads, multiple client demands, and shifting priorities
  • Strategic and business-savvy to help balance legal risk while guiding business decisions
