Wayfair is looking for an Associate Merchant to join the EU Curated Merchandising team. Our team owns the merchandising strategy and execution for a rich omnichannel assortment experience for the Wayfair customer in Germany and UK markets - curating a small subset of meaningful products (of our zillion things) that support Wayfair’s goal of being trend right, seasonally appropriate, and relevant at all times across all channels (TV, Onsite, Social, OOH, Email, …). 

As an associate, you will help the team develop business strategies and assortment plans for both Brand and Promotions campaigns, advocating for operational excellence to deliver a best-in-class merchandising experience to our customers. A successful candidate will be an enthusiastic and results-driven individual with a strong creative eye who excels at multitasking in a fast-paced environment, taking an analytical approach to problem-solving, and innovating & standing up new initiatives. 

This role has a duration of 2 years and will report into a Manager at Wayfair’s Berlin headquarters.

The role is based in the Wayfair Berlin offices - Monday to Thursday in office, Friday remote.

What You'll Do

  • Actively support the team in strategically identifying and selecting merchandise to feature in Wayfair Promotions and Branded campaigns through the development of seasonal and promotional assortment curations.
  • Conduct quality assurance for all merchandise-related assets and propose alternatives whenever needed.
  • Analyze campaign and product performance to derive insights and improvement opportunities for next campaigns (reporting).
  • Support with the creation of new curated events and cross-functional merchandising initiatives (tracking, content library, events curation, merchandising curation, New In strategy). 
  • Maintain a close pulse on upcoming trends and customer needs to identify new assortment opportunities, establishing differentiation criteria between German and UK customer markets.
  • Challenge the status quo and always be on the lookout for ways to streamline and improve the efficiency of existing processes while effectively managing multiple stakeholders.
  • Work cross-functionally with teams including Marketing, Brand, Creative, Promotions, Pricing, and Category Management to drive the team’s roadmap forward. 

What You'll Need

  • Bachelor’s degree (Marketing, Advertising, Brand, Business, Economics preferred)
  • 1-3 years of experience within an e-commerce or corporate retail organization preferred. Preferably experience in buying/retail merchandising or retail home furnishing planning.
  • Strong organizational and collaboration skills and the ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects at once; 
  • Ability to understand a brand vision, customer base and financial objectives and how to bring that to life through the product assortment and operational excellence.
  • Analytical and process-oriented, comfortable learning data analysis tools with ability to cut data and think critically about the business; 
  • Excellent communication skills with bias towards “answer first communication”, both written and verbal and the ability to influence cross-functionally. 
  • Experience in Excel and comfortable working with big data sets - GBQ, Looker are a plus
  • A genuine passion for industry trends, product design, and home decorating is a plus.
  • Fluent in English (basic German a plus)
