MongoDB seeks an Instructional Designer to create engaging online technical product learning content. MongoDB University provides free online technical education to learners around the world. In this role, you’ll have the opportunity to work with experts to learn about our products and develop short-form learning assets that help learners utilize the broad range of products we offer. You’ll work with stakeholders across the company to cover topics ranging from introductory concepts to advanced features and new product releases. This role is key to scaling our education content portfolio quickly and enabling our customers to experience the full power of MongoDB.
This role can be based out of any of our offices in North America or remotely in the North American region.
Responsibilities- Create and maintain Learning Bytes - short, focused technical video tutorials.
- Drive the end-to-end content design, development, and maintenance process:
- Conduct needs assessments and do topic research
- Determine learning objectives
- Write scripts and design storyboards
- Create slide-based visuals
- Lead review sessions with SMEs
- Edit and produce audio and video content
- Create quiz questions
- Load learning materials into the LMS
- Manage all stages of the project lifecycle
- Ensure content stays up to date with new product launches
- Adhere to brand standards
- Develop and maintain relationships with internal SMEs and technical teams.
- Proactively source internal content that can be repurposed to make new Learning Bytes or other learning assets
- Find new ways to produce content that scales and resonates with our global audience
- Analyze Learning Byte evaluation data to improve training content and effectiveness
- Review other Learning Byte scripts and storyboards
- 4+ years of instructional design experience and a strong understanding of adult learning methodologies
- Experience creating online technical product enablement content in a rapid development environment (please be prepared to share examples of your work)
- Multimedia production experience and familiarity with best practices for visual design and video production
- Experience with video and audio editing tools, including Camtasia and Audacity or Adobe Audition
- Demonstrated track record of successfully working with SMEs and collaborating across multiple teams
- Experience owning projects from strategy to execution
- Strong project management skills and experience managing multiple projects in different stages at the same time
- Nice to have: experience in a SaaS customer organization, experience with software development, or experience working with databases

Compensation at the time of offer is unique to each candidate and based on a variety of factors such as skill set, experience, qualifications, and work location. Salary is one part of MongoDB’s total compensation and benefits package. MongoDB’s base salary range for this role in the U.S. is:$81,000—$160,000 USD
