As a Data Governance Lead, you will own and execute data governance for Data Platform and MarTech systems and implement it through engineering, You will collaborate closely with data engineers, analytics engineers, software engineers, and other stakeholders, acting as a liaison to ensure that quality and privacy requirements are clearly defined, communicated, and implemented in systeams. 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Data Governance Framework: Roll out governance framework with focus on data quality and protection of sensitive data including aspects of data privacy. Create and modify policies, standards, governance metrics, processes, and support with identifying related tools.
  • Data Governance Controls: Create standards and controls to govern data collection, storage, usability, flow, and retention in Data Platform and MarTech systems
  • Data Catalog: Support the Data Platform team with the design, development, and maintenance of an enterprise data catalog. Support business users with the adoption of best practices and leverage the catalog to set up a more robust governance framework to track data definitions and lineage. 
  • Compliance: Work closely with Internal Audit (SOX) Team to establish working structure and support the teams in meeting the compliance requirements
  • Data Quality and Monitoring: Work with the data platform team to implement robust data quality checks and monitoring systems to ensure the accuracy, consistency, and reliability of data.
  • Performance Optimization: Define KPIs to monitor the results and effectiveness of data governance initiatives. Continuously monitor these KPIs and fine-tune data governance frameworks and policies to increase their effectiveness
  • Technology Evaluation: Stay up to date with industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in data governance. Assess and recommend new tools and frameworks to improve data governance capabilities. 
  • Documentation and Knowledge Sharing: Create and maintain comprehensive documentation of data governance processes, best practices, and technical standards. Facilitate knowledge sharing sessions with the broader team. 
  • Governance Leadership: Provide subject matter expertise and governance leadership to the Data & MarTech Org, fostering a collaborative and innovative work environment.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 8 years of hands-on experience in data governance, data quality, and data privacy implementations
  • Minimum of 5 years in senior management role and leadership experience balance with technology experience
  • Knowledge of at least on industry standard framework like DAMA, DGI, etc
  • Knowledge of regulatory requirements in the US and EU and strong familiarity with the data governance controls needed to be applied for ensuring compliance
  • Excellent leadership and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Experience in the travel industry or related domains is desirable but not mandatory.
