That's why we need diverse people from all abilities, gender identities, ethnicities, ages, sexual orientations, life experiences and backgrounds to join us.
Teamworking for the planet
Everything we do here spins around Plan Zero. So, naturally, the team you’ll be joining plays a gigantic role in making that happen. Here’s how:
OVO is a heavily data-driven organisation with an ever-growing demand for excellent quality, reliable and accurate data to power our business: our Senior Leadership team prioritising investment, our Product teams working out the best way to serve and delight our customers in a highly regulated and competitive market, our Data Analytics teams building insights to help customers reduce their carbon impact. Our role is to provide the accurate and reliable data needed to make the best decisions.
This role in a nutshell:
We are building a capability of Data Product Managers who are responsible for ensuring high quality data is produced from the operational platforms across our Tech domains; data that is simple to find, easy to understand, and highly reliable. You will work embedded within the Book & Install domain, with functional management led by the Data team. And you will share with your domain team the common goal of powering the way that OVO supports its customers on their net zero journey.
Your key outcomes will be:
- Be responsible for the long term vision, and drive the quarterly roadmap for the data products within the Book & Install domain.
- Build strong relationships with business stakeholders, commercial and operational analysts, data scientists, engineers and data stewards from across OVO to understand their perspectives of working with your data, and represent their voices into the rest of your team of engineers
- As per OVO’s Product and Tech culture, you will use OKRs and agile methodologies to break down work and ship value to the business via continuous delivery, actively measuring outcomes against goals, and iterating towards your product vision state, in line with business priorities
- Work alongside a dedicated and highly skilled team of engineers, supporting them with the right prioritisation, to deliver value in line with OVO’s data strategy
- Work closely with other Product Managers, Data PMs and ML Data PMs finding opportunities to further enhance the data landscape to engineers, analysts and data scientists, and ensure alignment of programmes of work to minimise dependency and maximise pace
- Work with commercial and operational data analysts to understand the current pain points of data and recommend solutions
- Develop an excellent understanding of the needs of your various diverse stakeholders across OVO, and their use cases for data
- Define their problems and requirements, ideally finding common areas of opportunity to drive the greatest benefit for minimum effort
- Break down and prioritise tasks by quantification of cost and effort against the benefit to the business
- Work with stakeholders to ensure the priority calls you make are in line with strategic business direction
- Support the engineering team using Agile methods to plan and deliver work
- Champion your product in and outside of your team to ensure the greatest reach and impact across OVO
- Be the go to person for support with business report creation.
You’ll be a successful Data Product Manager here at OVO if you…
- Are a product manager with a passion for data and an analytical mindset
- Love working with teams in areas like data engineering, analytics, or data science
- Enjoy making sense of complex domains and sharing that understanding with others
- Expert in data, with a deep knowledge and background in Data Analysis
- Understand and embrace the highs and lows of teamwork in a fast-paced environment, with the ability to pivot to new priorities effectively
- Feel at home collaborating with engineers and business leaders alike
- Find joy in cutting through opinions with data and evidence
- Know that building something great together takes resilience, perseverance, and a growth mindset
- Recognise that everyone has their own strengths and seek ways to bring out the best in yourself and others
- Know when it’s best to write something, say something, or show something to communicate your ideas
- Have the ability to drive the delivery of cross-functional teams, ideally with Scrum, Kanban and other Agile methods
- Focus on quality and accuracy when building data products
- Can explain complex technical concepts simply to business and technical stakeholders at all levels
