Data Science is at the heart of Lyft’s products and decision-making. You will leverage data and rigorous, analytical thinking to shape our products and make business decisions. This will involve identifying and scoping opportunities, shaping priorities, recommending technical solutions, designing experiments, and measuring the impact of new features.

Livery refers to for-hire vehicles that are commercially licensed and insured and comes in many forms including: Black Car/Black SUVs, Limos, Taxis, and Buses/Shuttles.  As a Data Scientist on the Livery team, you will collaborate with our world class team of engineers, product managers, and designers to accelerate our Lux Black market growth while formulating and driving forward strategies that best leverage the unique aspects of Livery driver supply.  We’re looking for a passionate Data Scientist to take one of the most interesting and strategically important problems across Rideshare.  The ideal candidate has strong business acumen, exceptional problem solving skills, and is comfortable working with a highly cross functional team.   

Responsibilities
  • Leverage data and analytic frameworks to identify opportunities for growth and efficiency 
  • Partner with product managers, engineers, marketers, designers, and operators to translate data insights into decisions and action
  • Design and analyze online experiments; communicate results and act on launch decisions
  • Develop analytical frameworks to monitor business and product performance
  • Establish metrics that measure the health of our products, the business, as well as the driver experience
Experience 
  • Degree in a quantitative field such as statistics, economics, applied math, operations research or engineering (advanced degrees preferred), or relevant work experience
  • 4+ years of industry experience in a data science, analytics, or management consulting role.  
  • Strong ability in building decision making frameworks and data analysis, able to understand business issues, analyze large amounts of data, and draw actionable conclusions
  • Ability to manage, influence, negotiate, and inspire others in a fast-moving environment
  • Proficiency in SQL - able to write structured and efficient queries on large data sets
  • Experience in programming, especially with data science and visualization libraries in Python or R
  • Experience in online experimentation and statistical analysis
  • Strong oral and written communication skills, and ability to collaborate with and influence cross-functional partners

This role will be in-office on a hybrid schedule — Team Members will be expected to work in the office 3 days per week on Mondays, Thursdays and a team-specific third day. Additionally, hybrid roles have the flexibility to work from anywhere for up to 4 weeks per year.

The expected base pay range for this position in the San Francisco area is $139,500-$155,000. Salary ranges are dependent on a variety of factors, including qualifications, experience and geographic location. Range is not inclusive of potential equity offering, bonus or benefits.
