We are seeking a seasoned and passionate Data Modeling Expert to join our Developer Relations organization and drive enablement with MongoDB's Document Model and Developer Data Platform capabilities. 

As developers increasingly choose MongoDB as their application’s data platform, your role will involve directly engaging the community by creating inspiring content and collaborating with a global team of skilled product managers and engineers. From code samples and demos to blog posts and video tutorials, your work will inspire developers from startups to Fortune 500 companies to think big and do more with their data.

Candidate Profile

We are excited to welcome an influential, established, and trusted voice in data modeling to our team. Your passion, expertise and 6+ years of technical experience as a database developer provide the insights you share as you lead discussions in the developer community.

Our ideal candidate loves to enable others and solve complex problems in the simplest of manners with infectious enthusiasm. In addition to being a general expert in data modeling you will develop or build on expertise in the core capabilities of MongoDB (including Search, Vector Search, Streaming, Aggregation, and Data Federation) and emerging topics across our industry.

Though your expertise is unique, our team is built to work together, share knowledge, and grow together. Supporting peer reviews for code examples, demonstrations, sessions, and other content will feed your genuine passion to unleash developer productivity and success.

Position Expectations
  • Inspire team members with your knowledge and passion for data modeling through peer discussion and thought leadership
  • Craft informative articles, blog posts, reference schemas, examples, and hands-on sessions, such as coding workshops, to effectively inspire and enable developers building with our platform
  • Deliver live enablement sessions to data engineers and developer audiences that teach foundational understanding and use of MongoDB’s document model, design pattern use, and entity design
  • Create or tune optimum schema designs for real-world production workloads
  • Lead sessions with small teams and individual developers to guide their design and use of MongoDB document schemas in the context of their specific workload
  • Share general insights gathered from developer interactions to inform team members and enable other developers
  • Draw upon your solid foundation of modeling data in real world use cases to work with marketing teams to shape authentic messaging, strategies, and an effective go-to-market approach
  • Partner with our Community team to support the growth of our MongoDB user groups, Champions, and influencer programs
Requirements
  • At least 4 years of experience working on large and highly performant NoSQL databases
  • Demonstrated proficiency in Data Modeling and Schema Design to optimize the efficiency and speed of NoSQL databases
  • Deep understanding of computer principles and systems, and an excellent data structures and algorithm foundation
  • Author of content (tutorials, how to guides) to inspire and help others learn
  • ~ 25% travel (expecting 5 days a month on the road, or active in area user groups and events)
  • Great  to have
    • Measurable success enabling developers through hands-on workshops and labs
    • Shared documented code and content to support/enable other developers
    • Seasoned and enthusiastic presenter at events and/or via YouTube, Webinars, or Live Streams
    • High SQL proficiency and general knowledge
    • MongoDB query proficiency is highly desirable

MongoDB’s base salary range for this role is posted below. Compensation at the time of offer is unique to each candidate and based on a variety of factors such as skill set, experience, qualifications, and work location. Salary is one part of MongoDB’s total compensation and benefits package. Other benefits for eligible employees may include: equity, participation in the employee stock purchase program, flexible paid time off, 20 weeks fully-paid gender-neutral parental leave, fertility and adoption assistance, 401(k) plan, mental health counseling, access to transgender-inclusive health insurance coverage, and health benefits offerings. Please note, the base salary range listed below and the benefits in this paragraph are only applicable to U.S.-based candidates.

MongoDB’s base salary range for this role in the U.S. is:$95,000—$187,000 USD
