About avi

We are on a mission to elevate the patient experience and provide the best possible primary care by combining technology with a human touch. Avi Medical runs patient-centric, tech-enabled medical practices that provide a convenient, personalized and holistic digital and physical patient experience unlike regular general practitioners. We employ our medical doctors and provide them a 21st century work environment that enables them to deliver the best care.

What you will be doing

As a DevOps Engineer at Avi Medical, you will play a key role in ensuring the reliability, scalability, and security of our healthcare platform. Working closely with product and development teams, you will design and maintain cloud infrastructure following Infrastructure as Code (IaC) best practices. Your work enables smooth, automated, and secure delivery of our digital treatment solutions — directly impacting thousands of patients and doctors every day.

In this role, you will:

  • Design, implement, and manage secure and scalable infrastructure on Google Cloud Platform (GCP) and Kubernetes (GKE) using IaC tools like FluxCD and Terraform.
  • Develop and maintain robust, high-availability CI/CD pipelines with GitHub to automate deployment, testing (e.g. with SauceLabs), and release processes.
  • Implement comprehensive monitoring, logging, and alerting (observability) to proactively detect and resolve production issues, maintaining high Service Level Objectives (SLOs).
  • Collaborate with engineers to enhance application performance, resource usage, and overall system efficiency.
  • Champion security best practices throughout the development lifecycle (DevSecOps), including vulnerability management and access control.
  • Collaborate with engineering teams to optimize application performance, resource utilization, and overall system efficiency.

What success looks like

After 3 months, you'll have become proficient with our existing infrastructure and CI/CD pipelines, understanding our core services and key stakeholders. You will have taken ownership of a significant CI/CD improvement or a core infrastructure component, establishing a reliable deployment pattern for a critical service.

After 6 months, you'll have a solid grasp of our platform's reliability and scalability challenges. You will have implemented a significant infrastructure automation project, such as a major upgrade to our Kubernetes cluster management or the full automation of a new microservice deployment, resulting in measurable improvements to deployment speed and system stability. You will be actively driving DevSecOps initiatives within the team.

After 12 months, you'll be a recognized leader in our platform operations, having made significant strides in optimizing our cloud spend and system performance. You will have successfully led the overhaul of our observability stack or established a comprehensive disaster recovery strategy, ensuring the platform's long-term resilience and alignment with our strategic objectives for scale and reliability. You will also be mentoring mid-level engineers on best practices for infrastructure and delivery.
