What are some of the things you do on a day-to-day basis?

  • Determine data structural requirements by analyzing R&D operations, applications, and programming. Aligning objectives with the business needs, and evaluating existing systems.
  • Craft innovative data solutions by conceptualizing and designing proposed systems. Specify the physical structure and functional capabilities of the data engine, incorporating robust security measures, backup protocols, monitoring systems, and recovery strategies.
  • Maintain data performance by identifying and resolving production and application development problems. Continuously fine-tune parameters to achieve peak efficiency, assess, integrate, and implement new releases
  • Offer comprehensive database support through utility coding, prompt response to user inquiries, and effective resolution of issues.
  • Create automation tools for maintaining large clusters more efficiently.
  • Maintain Cassandra, Vertica, HDFS, HBase and large scale MySQL databases.

What are the skills a good Data Engineer needs to have? 

  • 5+ years experience with relational/analytical databases (MySQL, SQL Server, Oracle, Vertica, ClickHouse)
  • 2+ years experience with NoSQL platforms such as MongoDB, Cassandra, Hadoop, Elasticsearch and such.
  • Scripting knowledge (we love python)
  • Linux expertise
  • Able to work independently
  • See the large picture
  • Excellent English
  • Team player

Nice to have

  • Experience in web facing environments
  • Puppet/Ansible Knowledge
