We’ve made good progress on the UK’s path to net zero. But we can do better. Research shows that 100% renewable energy tariffs aren't actually making the grid greener. We have to go further. We need to save energy, use power at smarter times of the day and look at other ways to help our customers reduce their carbon footprint.
That’s where OVO Drive comes in, it's our dedicated electric vehicle business. We already provide hardware installations, home & public charging but we want so much more, we want to build a single app experience that covers everything an EV driver could need this role will play a huge part in that.
We work like a start up- using our entrepreneurial, OVO Way spirit to drive us forward. And we’ll be flexible about how we do it - trying new things, growing the ones that work and learning new, green skills as we go.
This role in a nutshell:
As a Digital & Communications Manager, you’ll be working with the Marketing Lead at a really exciting time for the OVO Charge app and wider Drive team here at OVO. You’ll create creative and impactful copy and messaging that positions OVO Charge as a market leader, testing messaging across different platforms for maximum impact - including on the App and Play Stores, partnership campaigns and other marketing mediums. You’ll work with the in-house Creative Studio to create, submit and manage creative briefs. You’ll work closely with the Commercial team to support new and existing partnerships through the ideation and creation of exciting marketing campaigns. You’ll work with the Product team to action GTM strategies for new app updates and product launches.
A strategic mindset and can-do attitude with the ability to be both creative and results-oriented are essential for this role.
Your key outputs will be:
- Be responsible for the marketing copywriting for OVO Charge, including marketing emails, notifications, ad-hoc copy and any reviews required by other teams
- Work with Brand & Legal teams to ensure OVO Charge positioning fits with the wider OVO brand strategy and meets legal requirements
- Work with the in-house Creative Studio to create, submit and manage compelling creative briefs
- Manage stakeholder review for briefs you have submitted
- Submit and manage briefs to content designers for briefs you have submitted
- Work with Charge Anywhere’s Commercial team on any partner marketing required for new and existing partnerships - such as PR and social posts
- Align with OVO’s main media teams on commercial partnership deliverables
- Scope potential partnership opportunities across digital channels and bring these to life, attaining the necessary permissions from wider OVO teams
- Create the content required for ad-hoc marketing requests and campaigns
- Help implement the overall marketing strategy and product GTM strategies
- Implement App Store Optimisation Strategies on App and Play Stores
- Work with Marketing Lead and Brand Strategy team on proposition messaging
- Ensure proposition messaging is consistent throughout all touchpoints - landing pages, emails, in-app, SEO
You’ll be a successful ROLE TITLE at OVO if you…
- Have experience in a startup or a fast-paced and tech-first environment.
- Have experience in crafting compelling messaging from a product marketing perspective
- A knowledge of the electric vehicle sector is preferred.
- Have experience working with product, commercial and technology teams.
- Excellent communications skills with the ability to engage audiences at senior exec and C-suite level.
- Effective communication skills.
- Able to operate at a high level independently.
- Skilled at writing with an ability to explain complex topics and issues in a way that is accessible to a wide range of audiences.
- Adaptable and flexible approach to plans and able to respond confidently and positively to changing scenarios.

We’ll pay you between £42,120 - £60,650, depending on your specific skills and experience. If your expectations are a little different, have a chat with us!
