Position Overview:

The Director of StepStone Group’s Product Management team based in New York will be an integral senior member of StepStone Enterprise Services’ Product Management team. The role will support StepStone’s Private Equity Co-investment business, which is one of StepStone’s core private markets practices globally. This individual will lead all product management activities for the entire lifecycle of the business’s funds and discretionary programs, from pre-marketing to fund launches to investor relations. He/She will work closely with senior members of the Co-investment Private Equity (“PE Co-invest”) investment team. This individual will regularly collaborate with senior members of the Global Business Development team, the investment team, senior management at StepStone, and other internal stakeholders to manage PE Co-invest investor relations activities. Interactions with limited partners and potential investors will also be required on a regular basis.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Provide deep product knowledge and expertise on funds throughout lifecycle; serve as a senior product spokesperson internally and externally by communicating with key stakeholders in a knowledgeable, clear and professional fashion
  • Lead and formulate a detailed fundraising strategy for commingled and discretionary investment programs, which encompass the entire lifecycle: fundraising, pre-marketing and LP communications
  • Develop and oversee investment programs' client service protocols to ensure delivery of a high quality, consistent investor experience, including the application of standardized best practices gleaned from across the platform
  • Ideation and oversight responsibility for the development of marketing materials including presentations, investor updates and thought-leadership
  • Manage and oversee the preparation of existing and prospective investor requests, which may include RFPs, DDQs, other due diligence requests, and providing updates; collaborate with internal groups for responses as needed and ensure answers to clients are accurate, consistent, and appropriate
  • Enable successful fundraises by providing senior product management support, product / fund expertise, and leverage to senior members of the Pe-Co-invest team and the Global Business Development team
  • Participate in a senior capacity in fund offering documentation processes, including discussions related to business matters as relevant, and provide oversight to ensure timelines are met
  • Regularly perform above listed tasks in an investor facing capacity representing StepStone as a senior representative of the firm in a professional manner
  • Build collaborative and productive relationship with multiple stakeholders, including but not limited to, Global Business Development team members, PE Co-invest investment professionals, Firm Management, Legal & Compliance, Finance and Accounting, and StepStone Portfolio Analytics and Reporting team to manage fundraising and investor relations processes and execute on fundraising strategy
  • Train junior team members to understand and analyze industry trends and competitive landscape, as well as fundraising strategy
  • Develop plans for ongoing client and prospect outreach activities such as client events, onsite meetings, webinar events, investor conference
  • Manage coordination on technology to enforce internal efficiencies
  • Help lead or oversee the execution of key initiatives as needed

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • 10 or more years of financial services experience is required
  • Investor relations, analytical and presentation experience strongly preferred
  • Experience at a private markets asset manager, a private markets placement firm, a financial services or investment bank is strongly preferred

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Strong sense of ethics and integrity with demonstrated ability to behave consistently with StepStone’s expressed values and principles
  • Strategic and thoughtful; ability to effectively prioritize and execute on concurrent time-sensitive requests and initiatives
  • Leadership experience with demonstrated ability to work effectively as part of a team with collegiality and a high level of professionalism
  • Excellent technical skills, including ability to serve as the subject matter expert in the products to respond to investor requests
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills with ability to adapt style based on audience and serve effectively as spokesperson for the fund / product
  • Proactive, organized and detail oriented; strong attention to detail
  • Self-starter, with ability to work well under pressure
  • Strong project management skills
  • Advanced Microsoft Office (including Excel and PowerPoint) skills strongly preferred
  • Ability to develop competency in utilizing various in-house reporting platforms and systems

Salary Range - $165,000 - $200,000

The salary range is an estimate of pay for this position.  Actual pay may vary depending on job-related factors that can include location, education, skill, and experience.  The salary range does not include any benefits or other forms of possible compensation that may be available to employees.
