About Pinterest:

Millions of people across the world come to Pinterest to find new ideas every day. It’s where they get inspiration, dream about new possibilities and plan for what matters most. Our mission is to help those people find their inspiration and create a life they love. In your role, you’ll be challenged to take on work that upholds this mission and pushes Pinterest forward. You’ll grow as a person and leader in your field, all the while helping Pinners make their lives better in the positive corner of the internet.

Creating a life you love also means finding a career that celebrates the unique perspectives and experiences that you bring. As you read through the expectations of the position, consider how your skills and experiences may complement the responsibilities of the role. We encourage you to think through your relevant and transferable skills from prior experiences.

Our new progressive work model is called PinFlex, a term that’s uniquely Pinterest to describe our flexible approach to living and working. Visit our PinFlex landing page to learn more.

The mission of the Business Operations team is to assess how well Pinterest’s strategy is delivering enterprise performance and influence exec-level decisions to evolve strategy and operations accordingly. As the Director of Business Operations, Core, you will lead a data-driven team that drives critical business insights for our Exec Team while partnering with Product, Engineering, Marketing, Data Science, and others across Pinner Growth and Engagement, Shopping, and Content initiatives to improve how we execute. With a combination of exceptional analytical skills, insatiable curiosity, and strong leadership skills, you’ll help us better understand the Pinner experience and drive changes that shape the future of Pinterest.

What you’ll do:

  • Own the rhythm for our “core” suite of investments across Pinner Growth and Engagement, Content, and Shopping. Partner with 2 VPs of Product to develop a deep understanding of how their product strategies contribute to Pinterest’s overall business success.
  • Define KPIs for reporting, develop forward-looking forecasts and scenarios, and assess performance against goals to recommend strategy and operational improvements to drive business results.
  • Be the primary point person with our leadership team on understanding metrics movements and trends in our consumer product, and provide data-driven insights on nascent business questions.
  • Break down and solve ambiguous business problems and recommend solutions that inspire action from executives.
  • Lead and mentor a high performing team of data analysts to become thought partners for cross functional stakeholders.

What we’re looking for:

  • 10+ years of experience, 2+ years of directly related experience as part of 5+ years of technology, finance, economics, or consulting experience in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to operate full stack while also developing others. You can self-sufficiently conduct research, analyze data to ask and answer your own questions, visualize data in high signal-to-noise ways that make insights clear and compelling to executives, and create project structure and execution plans to drive swift action from those insights, while also mentoring growing more junior members of the team to eventually be able to do the same.
  • Structured systems thinker who also loves the details. When engaging with a problem, you balance a focus on quick wins and actionability with ways to help Pinterest efficiently solve that problem at scale through systems and repeatable processes, and are comfortable diving into the operational details with the analytical, data, product, and engineering teams that you will be closely partnered with to make it happen.
  • Strong communication and influence skills. You are comfortable partnering with a diverse set of cross-functional teams and synthesizing complex information for clear decision making and action by executives.
