About the TeamOur development teams support millions of users across web, smart television apps, gaming consoles, as well as partner devices. We collaborate extensively with product, design, program management, video engineering, client engineering, and service monetization to deliver a unique and enriching experience for our customer. Our primary objective is to provide a unique and enriching experience that delights our passionate fans.
About you- You find joy whether navigating the challenges of leading people, or getting into the weeds of the application infrastructure and architecture
- You have a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or Engineering or equivalent work experience.
- You have 12+ years of applicable engineering/development experience
- You have 5+ years of leadership experience in a data / database engineering capacity.
- You have a high-level understanding of data and database technologies, cloud, and back end services and platforms.
- You have experience with all aspects of development and management of data infrastructure for improved data accessibility, performance, scalability and reliability.
- You are familiar with modern development tools and practices.
- You have built and managed data teams while recognizing and nurturing talent, and creating an environment where engineers feels motivated and supported
- Demonstrated Experience with the following:
- Aligning development strategies with overall business objectives.
- Creating and managing development roadmaps.
- Implementing data and database systems and services.
- Implementing security best practices and measures for data access.
- Building scalable and fault-tolerant data systems
- Leading and developing data services with metrics-based planning.
- You have the following technology skills:
- Data: Proficiency in relational, NoSQL, key-value and other types storage systems. Knowledge and understanding of message-buses, how they work, and how to launch, scale and support them.
- Cloud Computing: Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud as well as familiarity with their data services and offerings.
- Performance: Understanding of key performance metrics and tools to measure and improve performance
- Nice to Have:
- Highly scalable & low latency fault tolerant systems.
- Video Streaming services.
As the Director of Data Engineering, reporting to the VP of Platform Engineering, you will be responsible for leading and overseeing the end-to-end data lifecycle, from engineering, architecture and governance to cloud data systems and services. You will lead a diverse team of experts and establish the group as the center of excellence, including data analysts, data engineers, data scientists, data architects and data governance professionals. You will bring hands-on experience and work closely with engineers to help drive a culture of excellence across multiple data domains and help develop and build a high performing team. You will collaborate with cross functional teams to help foster a positive and collaborative team culture, and ensure data platform & engineering practices conforms with the company's infrastructure, security, and compliance standards.

The Pay Range for this position is listed. Actual pay will vary based on factors including, but not limited to location, experience, and performance. The range listed is just one component of Crunchyroll’s Total Rewards offerings for employees.
