Title: Director, Global Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI)
In this pivotal role, the Director of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) will lead the development, implementation, and oversight of comprehensive DEI strategies and initiatives within Pure Storage. Acting as the primary advisor to senior leadership, this leader will play a crucial role in embedding DEI principles into every facet of the organization’s culture, policies, and practices. Collaborating closely with teams across HR, legal, ESG, compensation, talent development, talent acquisition, and the Pure Good Foundation, the Director will drive systemic change to foster an inclusive workplace, promote equity, and leverage diversity as a strategic advantage. Additionally, the Director will be a dynamic leader with deep experience understanding DEI best practices and cultural competence and overseeing global compliance with DEI regulations and guidelines, aligning Pure’s practices with both legal requirements and industry standards. This role reports directly to the VP of Talent Management and Chief Diversity Officer.
SHOULD YOU ACCEPT THIS CHALLENGE…- Develop and execute a data focused DEI strategy across the employee lifecycle and identify relevant actions to drive maximum stakeholder buy in/accountability and that is aligned to Pure’s business goals and core values.
- Refresh/Deploy DEI strategies across the full enterprise to achieve desired maturity.
- Translate company strategies into actionable DEI initiatives that deliver tangible value and results to the business.
- Lead and mentor a team of DEI experts, providing guidance, support, and professional development opportunities to enhance performance and career growth.
- Drive internal executive leadership accountability through councils organized by division and function.
- Ability to partner with and influence business and HR leaders to gain their commitment and support to successfully drive large scale organization initiatives
- Ability to seamlessly navigate between strategic ideation and tactical results-driven execution.
- Establish and track DEI metrics to measure the effectiveness of programs and initiatives and use data to identify gaps and recommend solutions for continuous improvement.
- Experience in driving cultural and organizational change, including the ability to assess organizational readiness, anticipate and implement strategies to overcome barriers
- Partner with Legal, ESG, Talent Management, HRBPs, and ERGs to design and implement global DEI solutions.
- Stay updated on DEI trends, research, and standards to continuously enhance Pure’s DEI efforts.
- Provide thought leadership and guidance on DEI issues to all levels of the organization.
- Collaborate closely with Talent Acquisition to develop and execute on strategies for diverse talent recruitment.
- Advocate for and uphold the highest ethical standards in all DEI-related activities.
- Experience:
- 10+ years in DEI leadership for a large global organization, with a focus on organizational development, execution, and influence at scale.
- Additionally, 7+ years of people leadership/people development experience.
- Skills:
- Excellent team leadership/development, communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills, with ability to collaborate, inspire, and influence at all levels of the organization.
- Proven track record of designing, developing, driving, and implementing DEI strategies in a global organization.
- Strong knowledge of DEI best practices, cultural competency, and global diversity challenges.
- Ability to think creatively and innovatively; be cutting edge, but not rough around the edges.
- Strong analytical mindset with ability to use data and insights to drive decision-making and measure outcomes. Comprehensive understanding of compliance, EEO, and ESG practices.
- Experience in mobilizing leadership accountability and aligning stakeholders with DEI roadmaps (executive business partnership)
You will be based in Santa Clara, CA. As this is an office-centric role, you are expected to be present in the office for 3 days a week.
The annual base salary range is: $182,000 – $291,000.
Salary ranges are determined based on role, level and location. For positions open to candidates in multiple geographical locations, the base salary range is reflective of the labor market across the applicable locations.
This role may be eligible for incentive pay and/or equity.
