Executive recruiting at Databricks consists of a team of talent acquisition specialists who have invested their entire careers focused on helping their clients identify, attract, and hire the most qualified individuals for our clients.  We execute the most senior leadership and executive searches for the company - both high profile and confidential. Our team is geographically distributed with the core group based in the SF Bay Area and London, UK. Collectively we are responsible for identifying, attracting and recruiting senior leaders who are transforming Databricks globally across all functions in this critical growth stage. Our clients are the Executive Leadership Team (ELT) and their direct reports.  We are engaged in hiring executives ranging from Directors all the way to C-level executives across GTM and G&A.

What you will do

The Director of Executive TA performs global search execution for mission critical roles including but not limited to AVP, VP, SVP, C-levels in multiple functions and regions of the company. This recruiting leader will partner with hiring managers, business leaders, and HR business partners to set and drive strategy, goals, process, and metrics while managing a small client-aligned recruiting team. Directors establish and scale recruiting and hiring from 0-1 in new regions globally, while hiring and onboarding country GMs.  They serve as the experts and advisors to drive the talent component of all M&A processes at DB.  Directors of TA also support all aspects of the search process ranging from preparation for client meetings, including market research and drafting specifications; developing search strategies; identifying, researching, and contacting prospective candidates; creating status reports and candidate assessments and leading weekly status calls on search progress. In addition to possessing a deep understanding of all facets of talent acquisition, s/he will have some experience advising in 2 of the following: 1) organizational design, 2) succession planning, 3) leadership development, 4) onboarding or 5) leadership coaching. The right person will be comfortable in an "all hands on deck" environment, love solving people problems, and thrive in a tech savvy culture.  

Additionally, the Director of Exec TA is responsible for:

  • Overseeing the research effort in partnership with our sourcers to map our markets and generate candidate names and target profiles;
  • Creating robust search strategies that will attract the best and brightest candidates while ensuring our commitment to diversifying our global workforce;
  • Calibrating and fine-tuning candidate profiles with hiring managers;
  • Gaining trust of prospective candidates and developing them in to active candidates;
  • Upholding DB’s hiring bar through rigorous screening, assessment and reference checks;
  • Continually contributing to the knowledge base of the group by providing education on industries and market conditions;
  • Proactively building out talent networks across diverse functions/industries and tapping knowledgeable industry sources to help develop a competitive advantage;
  • Leading client update meetings and leverage data to advance search progressConducting on-site interviews and participating in debrief/hiring conversations;
  • Providing strategic guidance on hiring, succession planning, onboarding, risk mitigation and compliance-related matters;
  • Creating and negotiating complex offers through a thorough understanding of compensation and benefits;

What you will need

  • Minimum of 15+ years of experience in a highly professional business environment; with experience recruiting executives at a top tier executive search firm, executive recruiting organization and advising / influencing executive leadership.  Management consulting, corporate advisory services, investment banking, research, or similar client-focused professional services experience is also acceptable.  Must have global experience.
  • The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 7 yrs experience leading a top performing executive search team and will also be a strong individual contributor.  S/he will possess exceptional research, executive sourcing and selection/assessing skills.  
  • This person will have experience across AMER, EMEA and APJ and deep experience in building, leading and scaling exec TA teams supporting GTM functions including field engineering, sales and customer success. 
  • They will be someone who has built and led executive recruiting teams in a fast paced environment for a high growth tech company; 
  •  The Director of Executive Recruiting will have a proven track record of being scrappy and able to fulfill the executive searches in a timely manner;
  • They will have highly developed conceptual skills - able to synthesize information quickly, understand various industries and functions, and be able to present material in an organized, concise, and clear manner;
  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to effectively prioritize projects and deliverables;
  • Experience managing a demanding workload, balancing multiple tasks, and switching gears while maintaining priorities;
  • The ability/agility to work with a number of constituencies on simultaneous projects;
  • Personal and business maturity that leads to confident and rational business decisions;
  • Demonstrable initiative and resourcefulness;
  • Ability to develop well-planned strategies and achieve goals within tight timelines;
  • Experience using technology competently in a business setting;
  • Experience researching information effectively through various channels;
