The Director of IT PMO will be responsible for the Project Management Office within the IT department, ensuring that all projects driven by IT or using IT resources are run efficiently and effectively. This role is responsible for establishing, maintaining, and continuously improving project management methodologies, standards, tools, and reporting. The team this individual will lead consists of project managers, scrum masters, and a portfolio manager. This person will also coordinate projects across other distributed IT teams throughout the company.

What you will be doing:

Strategic Leadership:

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive project portfolio strategy aligned with the organization's business objectives.
  • Collaborate with senior leadership to prioritize and sequence IT projects and ensure alignment with corporate strategy.
  • Provide thought leadership and drive continuous improvement efforts within this project management practice and others within Elastic.

Project Portfolio Management:

  • Supervise the IT project portfolio, ensuring projects are delivered on time, within scope, and within budget.
  • Establish and implement project management standards, methodologies, and processes.
  • Monitor project performance and provide regular status reports to senior management.
  • Balance project work with On Demand and Run the Engine work within the portfolio.

Team Leadership:

  • Lead, mentor, and manage a team of project managers, scrum masters, and a portfolio manager, fostering a culture of excellence and continuous improvement.
  • Coordinate the use of resources across IT in order to optimally staff and support projects.
  • Conduct performance reviews and provide ongoing feedback to project management staff.

Collaborator Engagement:

  • Facilitate multi-functional collaboration and ensure effective communication throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Lead team members and address any issues or concerns that arise.
  • Works closely with business systems analysts and architects to ensure project designs are completed and agreed to before starting development work.
  • Works closely with business partners to understand business value and priority of work to ensure sequencing of the work IT resources are working on.
  • Partners with the IT Risk & Compliance team to ensure compliance is built into each project.

Risk Management:

  • Identify and mitigate project risks, ensuring that potential issues are addressed proactively.
  • Develop and maintain a risk management framework to minimize project disruptions.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant regulatory and organizational requirements.

Financial Management:

  • Work with IT leadership to ensure projects are funded and push through any SW purchases or renewals as needed for project work.
  • Find opportunities for cost savings and efficiency improvements.
What you will bring:

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in Information Technology, Business Administration, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).
  • PMP, PgMP, or similar project management certification is highly desirable.

Experience:

  • Demonstrated ability in IT project management, with at least 10 years in a leadership role.
  • Consistent track record of optimally running large-scale IT projects and leading project management teams.
  • Experience with various project management methodologies (e.g., Agile / SAFe, Waterfall).

Skills:

  • Strong leadership and team management skills.
  • Excellent communication and social skills.
  • High level of proficiency in project management software and tools (Jira, Monday, etc).
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to lead multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Compensation for this role is in the form of base salary.  This role does not have a variable compensation component.  The typical starting salary range for new hires in this role is listed below. 

These ranges represent the lowest to highest salary we reasonably and in good faith believe we would pay for this role at the time of this posting.  We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range, and the ranges may be modified in the future.  

An employee's position within the salary range will be based on several factors including, but not limited to, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, geographic location, performance, and business or organizational needs.

Elastic believes that employees should have the opportunity to share in the value that we create together for our shareholders. Therefore, in addition to cash compensation, this role is currently eligible to participate in Elastic's stock program.  Our total rewards package also includes a company-matched Registered Retirement Savings Plan (RRSP) with dollar-for-dollar matching up to 6% of eligible earnings, along with a range of other benefits offered with a holistic emphasis on employee well-being.
