This position is within the Finance department and is focused on overseeing the separation, establishment, and operations of CM’s new Media division.  Responsibilities include planning and managing the new set-up, overseeing an initial team of 5 and growing the team.  Working with Senior leadership on planning, forecasting, assessment of new business opportunities and execution of the current plan. This role will ensure the needs of the customers, investors, and employees are balanced with the long-term business success of Critical Mass.  This role will appeal to those who want to combine their business acumen with their accounting skills.  This is a role for an individual who is outgoing, well-read, knowledgeable about the digital economy, and willing to learn and be curious.  You must be proactive and driven in your career, continuously willing to engage and contribute, lead, and not just follow.

You will:

  • Liaise with the Corporate Controller and Senior Finance management on key issues.
  • Lead a team that will be based in multiple locations.
  • Analyze and present financial information to drive value-add decision making.
  • Oversee the monthly accounting process.
  • Execute projects, solutions and deliverables for the rapidly changing environment including automations and process transformations.
  • Support internal and external reporting including information requests from corporate.
  • Oversee and coordinate client reconciliations and audit requirements.
  • Partner with various business unit stakeholders to understand the business needs.
  • Work with limited direction to drive the delivery of solutions in a complex and changing environment.

You have:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business or Computer Science preferred.
  • CPA Designation or related finance experience.
  • Big 4 experience is an asset.
  • 4 – 8 years’ experience in a similar accounting or finance role.
  • Entrepreneurial spirit, you are a self-motivated individual who is knowledgeable about the digital economy and excited to learn more about the business and the latest digital technology trends.
  • Experience in diagnosing project issues, developing solutions, communicating with clients, coordinating decision-making, documenting, managing client expectations and providing leadership. 
  • Experience mentoring, coaching, and developing a team.
  • Highly proficient skills in Microsoft Office Suite, and Keynote.
  • A thorough, detail-oriented mindset where organization is prioritized.
  • Ability to anticipate issues before they arise.
  • Ability to simplify complex issues and processes into easily understood communications through both written and verbal means.

Nice-to-Haves: 

  • Experience with AI and machine learning would be an asset.
  • Working knowledge of SAP-BI, SAP-FI, Dynamics 365, Media Ocean and associated accounting systems is considered an asset.
