We are looking for a Director of Analytics Platform in our team in Berlin!

The Director of Analytics Platform will spearhead the development and implementation of a cutting-edge self-service analytics platform, designed to empower all company teams with the tools and insights needed for data-informed findings. This strategic role involves managing the Analytics department to deliver comprehensive company-wide reports, actionable business intelligence, and insights. The Director will also oversee the execution of rigorous experimentation and testing protocols, as well as development of predictive models to support various business goals. A key aspect of this role is to laterally manage and mentor embedded analysts within different teams, ensuring the analytics culture is deeply integrated across the company.

The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of analytics platforms, advanced analytics (and internal data products) and a proven track record of guiding successful teams.

You will:

  • Leadership and Strategy: Develop and execute a comprehensive analytics strategy that aligns with the company’s goals, fostering a data-informed culture throughout Babbel.
  • Analytics: Drive the creation and continuous improvement of a user-friendly self-service analytics platform, enabling non-technical team members to access data and generate insights independently.
  • Business Intelligence: Oversee the delivery of regular company-wide reports and dashboards that provide clear, actionable insights across key performance indicators (KPIs).
  • Experimentation and Testing: Design and manage a framework for A/B testing and other experimental approaches to support data-oriented findings.
  • Predictive Modeling: Direct the development and deployment of predictive models.
  • Team Management: Recruit, manage, develop a high-performing analytics team, including embedded analysts with various departments.
  • Define and prioritize the features and functionality of the analytics platform
  • Work with cross-functional teams to ensure that the analytics platform meets the needs of the business
  • Monitor the performance of the analytics platform and make adjustments as needed
  • Identify and mitigate risks to the analytics platform
  • Stay up-to-date on the latest trends in analytics platforms
  • Creation and ownership of core data products (such as Business Performance and Finance related data products).

You have:

  • Bachelor's or Master’s degree in STEM, Economics, Statistics, Business Administration or other related field.
  • 10+ years of working experience in a data analytics or data warehousing department, preferably working as a Head of Analytics.
  • Demonstrated experience in business process analytics, data architecture design and development as well as the implementation of workflow enabled solutions.
  • Experience in market/business intelligence, strategic planning, project management and cross-functional business experience as well as vast experience working with large data-sets and distributed computing systems.
  • Proven track record of guiding successful teams
  • Strong technical acumen and business acumen
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills in both verbal and written form. Communication skills will be needed in the collaborative capacity of the Director where clear communications will be needed to facilitate smooth interaction and efficient execution of collaborative duties.
  • Analytics skills: A candidate for this position must, therefore, be skilled in transforming data and affecting business processes in order to support data governance and integrity. The candidate will also be highly knowledgeable in the use of emerging open source
