Role Description

As Director of Engineering, you will be responsible for people management, technical direction, and driving major strategic and product initiatives. You will have significant strategic impact and influence the direction of the company, as well as direct responsibility for new products. You will do this together with an amazing team of talented, passionate engineers and engineering managers, as well as cross functional leaders. 

This role represents an extraordinary opportunity to oversee our new business unit, Dropbox Dash, focused on building universal search for all your cloud documents and AI-powered assistant tools to make your life more productive. Additionally, you will represent the interests of Dropbox engineers "on the ground" in Poland, ensuring that Dropbox continues to develop as a center of excellence for this growing business unit. As such, this role requires an experienced and versatile leader with a passion for building and grow new teams.

Responsibilities
  • Lead the team in setting the right balance between urgency and the high quality bar expected by both our customers and the broader Dropbox engineering teams, through implementing clear repeatable engineering processes
  • Partner closely with leaders across Engineering, Product, Design, HR and Talent Acquisition to set organizational and technical strategy, as well as support engineering managers in Europe and North America

Requirements
  • BS, MS, or PhD in Computer Science or a related technical field (e.g. physics or mathematics)
  • 10+ years of experience in an engineering leadership role (4+ years as a Senior Manager or Director) with a track record of successfully managing and growing engineering teams
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills
  • Experience in defining and implementing engineering processes and best practices
  • Proven ability to drive innovation, continuous improvement, and operational excellence
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and senior leadership
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to handle multiple projects and priorities simultaneously
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in managing and collaborating with teams across diverse geographic locations and multiple time zones
