Director of FinTech Engineering

As a Director of FinTech Eng, you will collaborate closely with peers across Toast and connect your teams’ work to Toast’s broader mission. You will help shape product direction through technical insight and you will contribute to the technical roadmap for the evolution of our products. You will grow high performing teams and develop their skills over time. You love finding creative ways to help your teams become more effective & efficient. You are passionate about customer experience and will work closely with product & design counterparts. On a given day, you might be reviewing solution designs, coordinating discussions between partner teams, collaborating on roadmaps with architectural and product stakeholders, and conducting 1:1s.
About this roll* (Responsibilities)
- Drive delivery of business outcomes across multiple teams, including planning, execution, and measuring impact
- Partner closely with Toast FinTech leaders across PM, UX, Engineering, Business, Customer Care, and Fintech Operations to define actionable, valuable work for the team
- Keep product quality high with continuous delivery improvements in collaboration with TechOps & QA
- Ensure end-to-end delivery of software, including team ownership of monitoring and production issue remediation
- Incorporate advances in software technology into our solutions to ensure we make best advantage of industry best practices
- Define and support career development plans for your team
- Mentor and coach both new and experienced Engineering Managers & Team Leads
- Contribute to building Toast’s brand as an innovative, high-tech, high-growth Restaurant and FinTech leader
Do you have the right ingredients*? (Requirements)
- Experience with hiring and developing empowered teams
- Experience building and operating software in a SaaS environment. Experience with FinTech products is a strong plus
- Knowledge of the payments ecosystem and PayFac responsibilities
- A bias towards action, with the ability to balance between getting things done and making things perfect
- A proven ability to influence decision-making at all levels within an organization
- A strong sense of empathy for customers and teammates
- Entrepreneurial mindset, comfortable with high growth and developing clarity from ambiguity.

The base salary range for this role is listed below. The starting salary will be determined based on skills and experience. In addition to base salary, our total rewards components include cash compensation (overtime, bonus/commissions, if eligible), benefits, and equity (if eligible).
Pay Range$219,000—$350,000 USD
