Key Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, or a related field. Advanced degree preferred.
  • Minimum 15 years in Automotive Industry with extensive experience (5+ years) in automotive Functional Safety, with a proven track record of implementing Functional Safety processes according to ISO 26262.
  • In-depth knowledge of automotive safety concepts, standards, and regulations.
  • Experience with safety analysis techniques such as HARA, FMEA, FMEDA, and FTA.
  • Familiarity with safety-critical automotive systems, including ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance Systems) and autonomous driving technologies.
  • Strong project management skills with the ability to lead cross-functional teams and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with engineering teams, suppliers, and external partners.

Nice to have

  • Experience with reviewing and analysing SOTIF requirements
  • Experience developing AUTOSAR-based systems.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and Implement Functional Safety Processes: Lead the development and implementation of functional safety processes tailored to automotive product development. This includes hazard analysis, risk assessment, safety goal definition, and safety requirements specification.
  • Compliance Management: Ensure compliance with automotive functional safety standards, particularly ISO 26262. Stay up-to-date with the latest regulations and standards related to automotive functional safety and implement necessary changes to ensure compliance.
  • Safety Analysis: Conduct safety analyses such as Hazard Analysis and Risk Assessment (HARA), FMEA (Failure Modes and Effects Analysis), FMEDA (Failure Modes, Effects, and Diagnostic Analysis), and FTA (Fault Tree Analysis) to identify and mitigate potential safety risks.
  • Safety Requirements Engineering: Define and manage safety requirements throughout the product development lifecycle. Ensure that safety requirements are correctly allocated to the appropriate owners of system, hardware, and software components based on the company's role in the automotive supply chain.
  • Safety Verification and Validation: Develop safety verification and validation plans and ensure that safety requirements are verified, validated, and documented throughout the development process. Coordinate with cross-functional teams to conduct safety tests and analyses.
  • Safety Culture Promotion: Foster a culture of safety within the organization by providing training and guidance to engineering teams on functional safety concepts, standards, and best practices.
  • Documentation and Reporting: Maintain thorough documentation of safety processes, analyses, and verification/validation activities. Generate safety reports and present findings to relevant stakeholders.
  • Customer Interface: Work directly with the customers to ensure synchronization of responsibilities including coordinated testing where applicable and where practical for vehicle-level testing and access.
