The Director of People and Culture Business Partners is a national role leading a team of 15-20, with 5 direct reports in providing both strategic and hands-on support to the leadership and associate populations within HelloFresh's Distribution Centers, Production, Logistics Hubs and Corporate locations.  Reporting to the Head of People, this role will be responsible for driving People functional excellence, executing on people initiatives and ultimately, delivering a stellar employee experience. 

HelloFresh Canada currently has 8 sites across 3 provinces (Alberta, British Columbia and Ontario). This role will require an on-site presence at minimum 3-4 days a week at a field location and 1 day a week at our Toronto HQ, with the ability to travel an average of up to 50% of the time within Canada.

  • Set the vision, direction and culture of their team of People professionals (up to 15-20 professionals in various stages of their careers) by managing individual and team performance expectations and goals, monitoring real-time service levels, and holding their team accountable to meet and exceed performance targets
  • Fosters and maintains strong partnerships with stakeholders throughout the organization utilizing a matrixed shared services model from all of the following structures: Canadian market, North American cluster and Global organization  
  • Working with the North American cluster People team and relevant global teams, identify, develop, and implement People strategies and programs to support operational and strategic business needs on a national level, including: employee relations, compliance, recruitment, onboarding, performance management, organizational design, compensation and benefits, learning and development, diversity and inclusion, and offboarding
  • Thoughtful ability to develop strategic relationships with your business partners by building trust and influencing business decisions.  You can root cause issues quickly and uncover core issues using data, then lean in, consult with, and teach the business how decisions affect the network and/or individual sites, and create new mechanisms, as needed
  • Understand business goals and recommend thoughtful new approaches, policies, and procedures to affect continual improvements in business objectives, productivity, and development of the People team within the company
  • Deliver results in a fast-paced environment with a high volume workload supporting People functions and the business
  • Drive and direct all employee engagement efforts for senior leaders, front line managers and associates
  • Continuously innovate People solutions and process improvements by working closely with Canada People and Culture Managers to ensure standardization and alignment in People practices, approaches (subject to provincial legislation differences) and systems/tools
  • Lead projects at a national level, influence and build buy-in from stakeholders, and then drive execution and achievement of the key results using effective change management and project management skills
  • People and Culture Business Partner for national leaders supporting the organization, including coaching and advising on key areas such as performance management, employee relations, succession planning, and team effectiveness
  • Ensure legislative compliance across Canada, including the Employee Handbook and other policies,  health and safety (i.e. training, certifications), hours of work, etc.
  • All other duties, as assigned 

Sound a-peeling? Here's what we're looking for

  • A combination of 7+ years in human resources management with at least 5+ years of experience leading teams
  • 3+ years' experience in one or more of the following industries: shipping/logistics distribution centers, warehousing, manufacturing environments, retail, and customer-facing / customer-service environments
  • Experience supporting hourly, front-line employee populations of 500+
  • Experience in workforce planning/flex staffing, project management, and continuous or process improvement
  • Demonstrated experience leading change management initiatives, specifically in organizational design/structure, People program development and implementation, and/or People service delivery
  • Strong understanding of health and safety, employment, and human rights legislation in AB, BC and ON
  • Strong stakeholder management skills, especially in business partnering with senior business leaders and global counterparts
  • Excellent coaching and conflict resolution skills, with demonstrated experience in leading complex workplace investigations 
  • Sound judgement and fair, ethical conduct with respect to employee relations and our highly diverse employee population
  • Ability to work within a quickly changing, high pressure environment and with a great deal of ambiguity 
  • Ability to work varying shifts including weekends and evenings as dictated by business needs
