Role Description: 

We are looking for a Quality Engineering Director to join our main engineering site here in Sophia-Antipolis, France. With end-to-end responsibility of quality across the entire Symphony Messaging and Directory product suites, you will lead a team of several managers and their quality engineers, as well as an offshore contractor organisation with automation and manual testers. We are looking for an experienced engineer with a proven track record delivering complicated technical and organisational projects in distributed, international organisations -whether as a software engineering manager or a quality engineering manager.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Lead a distributed multi-cultural organisation with heterogenous profiles ranging from seasoned team managers to graduate engineers, help this organisation grow and evolve to meet the needs of our product teams
  • Be a mentor to both managers and individual contributors in the organisation, helping them grow and progress
  • Leads the planning and execution of product testing efforts, including the supervision of associated resources (managers, staff and offshore contractor teams) to meet committed delivery dates. 
  • Designs and implements customized testing strategies that seamlessly integrate quality engineering principles with the unique requirements of the team’s products.
  • Orchestrates the qualification and delivery of software to customer environments. 
  • Develops and manages quality assurance processes and metrics to ensure high customer satisfaction. 
  • Defines best practices to implement and maintain, build, and support the test automation framework for a complex multi-cloud infrastructure (AWS and GCP) for large enterprise customers. 
  • Continuously drives the reduction of automation test debt and aims to maintain low-cost, easily manageable automated pipelines.
  • Estimates test efforts, analyzes test results and communicates to the stakeholders. 
  • Develops innovative solutions for quality engineering, data analysis and highly generic automation frameworks to promote Quality as a Service 

 

Qualifications:

  • BS/BA degree in computer science, engineering or related discipline. 
  • Minimum of 10 years of software engineering experience, with a minimum of 3 years management experience (people, project, quality, ideally several)
  • Experience managing offshore contracting teams (vendor management, performance tracking, inter-team relationship building)
  • Professional experience in designing, building and supporting test automation frameworks. 
  • Knowledge about AWS and GCP or similar cloud computing providers, and security testing best practices. 
  • Experience with GitHub or similar source code management tools. 
  • Preferably ISTQB Certification or similar, and advanced knowledge about software quality methodologies. 
  • Excellent English communication skills, written and spoken
