Role summary
The Director, SEC Reporting and Technical Accounting will report to the VP of Finance, as well as work closely with the Chief Accounting Officer and other global Finance leaders.
This role will be based in our New York, NY office and will require flexible hybrid in-office attendance and collaboration.
What you’ll do:
- Manage the preparation of periodic SEC (Form 10-K and 10- Q) and US statutory financial reporting in accordance with SEC and US GAAP standards. The preparation includes all financial statements, notes to the financial statement and management’s discussion and analysis.
- Oversee the project management of the Company’s SEC reporting, including gathering input from relevant stakeholders and ensuring adherence to timelines
- Manage the technical accounting policies and the periodic topical memorandums for the Company.
- Perform accounting treatment assessments for major contracts, product lines, investment structures, and/or transactions
- Monitor new and changing rules, standards and requirements from governing bodies, including but not limited to, the FASB and the SEC, and assist with the Company’s adherence or transition to such standards
- Monitor comparable public company financial reporting and understand existing and evolving industry standards in accounting policy
- Lead ad-hoc and periodic meetings on technical accounting and financial reporting matters
- Manage special projects as needed, including M&A due diligence, transactions accounting and related matters
- Understand the Company’s general ledger and consolidation process and ensure compliance with US GAAP
- Execute periodic controls as assigned and understand the Company’s SOX framework
- Manage technical accounting and SEC reporting topics with third-parties, including external auditors, consultants, and others on matters as needed
What we’re looking for:
- 7+ years of total experience at top public accounting firms (Big 4 preferred) with experience working with public, multinational clients and with 2+ years experience at a public company performing SEC reporting and / or technical accounting leadership functions.
- CPA certification required with B.A. in Accounting or a related field
- Experience preparing and/or reviewing financial statements with a strong understanding of SEC reporting standards, and demonstrated experience applying SEC guidance
- Experience with financial reporting software (Toppan Merrill Bridge preferred) and coordinating financial statement review/comments with various stakeholders
- Very strong knowledge of US GAAP, including demonstrated knowledge of ASC 606, ASC 842, ASC 718, ASC 320, ASC 740 and ASC 815
- Ability to efficiently apply accounting standards and draw operational conclusions at pace, as well as clearly and simply communicate those conclusions (both verbally and in writing) to various organizational stakeholders
- Experience in accounting research, including benchmarking (knowledge of Intelligize a definite plus), and ability to communicate completeness of research conducted
- Attention to detail and ability to manage competing priorities, stay organized, and maintain a proactive approach to their responsibilities
- Ability to manage upward and track open items, taking responsibility for keeping workstreams moving
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- High executive presence and professional demeanor
- Team player eager to learn and grow without ego
- Interest in fintech industry (experience in payments or fintech a definite plus)

In accordance with New York City Law, below is the annual base salary range for this position. Actual annual base salary is based on, but not limited to: experience, education, professional licenses, location and business needs. The position is eligible for health insurance, disability insurance, life insurance, 401k plan, paid-time off, and sick (and where applicable safe) leave. This position is also eligible for a discretionary year-end bonus. The annual base salary range for this position is: $180,000-$220,000
