Director, Software Engineering - CPQ

Job Summary: We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced engineering director to drive our next generation Configure, Price and Quote [CPQ] platform. The ideal candidate will have a strong engineering background with product development expertise in cloud-native architectures, UI/UX frameworks, database scaling, and domain knowledge in CPQ, billing, subscription management, consumption based business processing, and e-commerce experience. This role requires someone who has successfully built highly performant products that scale for thousands of users and led engineering teams in creating next-generation architectures. Additionally, experience with rules-driven and BPM frameworks, API-led design, business API context and front-end technologies is essential. A deep understanding of the technology components necessary to build a scalable architecture for a Configure, Price, Quote (CPQ) application is also required.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide hands-on technical leadership, actively participating in architecture decisions and complex problem-solving scenarios
- Drive the evolution of our CPQ platform architecture to meet enterprise-scale requirements while maintaining flexibility, performance and the best UX.
- Partner with Product Management to translate complex pricing and quote management requirements into elegant technical solutions
- Lead the evaluation, selection, and implementation of new technologies to enhance our platform capabilities
- Actively contribute to code reviews, technical design sessions, and architectural decisions
- Establish and optimize engineering processes to improve development velocity, quality, and reliability
- Drive technical decision-making around scalability, reliability, and performance optimizations
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure successful delivery of complex enterprise CPQ solutions
- Own technical roadmap development and execution across multiple teams
Required Qualifications
- 12+ years of software engineering experience, with at least 5 years in engineering leadership roles
- Strong hands-on technical abilities with recent coding experience
- Proven track record of solving complex technical problems in enterprise software
- Experience with Salesforce ecosystem, particularly in CPQ or related domains
- Deep expertise in modern cloud technologies and distributed systems architecture
- Experience with high-scale, multi-tenant architectures serving enterprise customers
- Demonstrated ability to break down complex problems and lead teams to practical solutions
- Strong background in some of the following: Kubernetes, microservices architecture, event-driven systems, distributed databases
- Track record of successful large-scale system migrations and architectural transformations
- Experience with agile methodologies and modern DevOps practices
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field; Master's preferred
Technical Expertise
- Cloud Platforms: AWS, Azure, or GCP at enterprise scale
- Salesforce Platform: APIs, integrations, and platform limitations
- Infrastructure: Kubernetes, Docker, Terraform
- In-memory data stores (e.g., Redis, Memcached) for fast data access and caching.
- Programming Languages: Java, Python, Go, Apex or similar enterprise-grade languages
- Databases: Experience with both SQL and NoSQL at scale. High-performance databases (e.g., PostgreSQL, MongoDB, Cassandra) for reliable data storage and retrieval.
- Message Queuing: Kafka, RabbitMQ, or similar
- Monitoring & Observability: DataDog, New Relic, or similar tools
- CI/CD: Jenkins, GitLab, or similar platforms
- Security frameworks and tools (e.g., OAuth, JWT, SSL/TLS) for ensuring data privacy and protection.
- Modern JavaScript frameworks (e.g., React) for building responsive and dynamic user interfaces.
- HTML5 and CSS3 for structuring and styling web applications.
- State management libraries (e.g., Redux) for managing application state.
- Front-end build tools (e.g., Webpack, Babel) for optimizing and compiling front-end assets.
- UI component libraries (e.g., Material-UI) for consistent and reusable UI components.

- Proven ability to solve complex pricing and quote management challenges
- Experience in optimizing performance of large-scale enterprise systems
- Track record of innovative solutions for enterprise integration challenges

- Partner with Product and Business teams to drive technical innovation
Preferred Experience
- Previous experience with Salesforce CPQ or similar enterprise CPQ solutions
- Background in building or maintaining enterprise pricing engines
- Experience with Salesforce platform development and integration
- Knowledge of enterprise billing systems and quote-to-cash processes
