THE ROLE

Join Pure as a Director, Technical Marketing to define the vision and strategy for our world-class Technical Marketing team. You will lead a team of technical experts in creating compelling, high-impact technical content—from thought leadership to sales enablement—that directly fuels our Go-To-Market success. This role requires deep cross-functional collaboration with Product, Engineering, Sales, and Sales Engineering to ensure our technical story is clear, competitive, and consistently inspires our customers and partners globally.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

  • Establish Strategic Direction: Define and execute the long-term vision, organizational structure, and strategic content roadmap for the Technical Marketing team to maximize its impact on sales and GTM initiatives.
  • Drive Technical Evangelism: Oversee and personally contribute to the creation of premium technical content (e.g., videos, blogs, white papers, demos) that translates complex concepts into clear, engaging, and persuasive stories, elevating Pure’s industry thought leadership.
  • Enable the Field: Ensure the sales and sales engineering teams are fully equipped with world-class technical enablement, including deep-dive product training and sales content that addresses critical customer needs and competitive scenarios.
  • Lead and Develop Talent: Provide guidance, mentorship, and professional development for the team, fostering a culture of technical excellence and continuous learning, and building their expertise and external evangelist brand.
  • Measure and Optimize Impact: Define clear performance metrics and KPIs (Key Performance Indicators) for content effectiveness and engagement, managing team output and processes to ensure alignment with business objectives.
  • We are primarily an in-office environment and therefore, you will be expected to work from the Santa Clara office in compliance with Pure’s policies, unless you are on PTO, or work travel, or other approved leave.

WHAT YOU BRING

  • Strategic Team Leadership: Proven experience leading and scaling high-performing technical marketing, sales engineering, or similar teams, including setting team vision, managing budgets, and driving talent development.
  • Exceptional Storytelling & Content Creation: Demonstrated ability to distill highly technical and complex concepts into clear, concise, and compelling narratives for diverse audiences, including a portfolio of content that has successfully driven business outcomes.
  • Deep Domain Expertise: In-depth, hands-on understanding of enterprise data center infrastructure, primary and/or secondary storage, and broad knowledge of structured and unstructured data, data services, and protocols (e.g., FC SAN, SMB, NFS, S3 Object).
  • Go-To-Market Acumen: Ability to operate as a strategic partner to Product Management and Sales/Sales Engineering leadership, influencing overall GTM strategy, messaging, and content distribution to align with business priorities.
  • Results-Oriented Execution: Proven capability to thrive in a fast-paced environment, manage multiple concurrent, high-priority projects, and establish operational processes that drive measurable team performance.
