Lonely Planet, a Division of Red Ventures, is looking for a talented Full Stack/ Elixir Engineer to join our team in Charlotte or New York.  We’re looking for experienced, professional engineers with go-anywhere, do-anything attitudes to build value for our customers and our team. Yes, you should write clean, performant, testable code in a variety of languages across our microservices. But you’ll also dive into logs and metrics with our Platform group, work closely with Product to define requirements and take responsibility for the way your code performs in the cloud.

As a key player in our team, you will orchestrate end-to-end experiences for authenticated users, from front-end user interfaces to efficient backend systems in the cloud, ensuring the delivery of top-notch technology solutions in a timely fashion. Your role extends beyond building high-quality services; you will be instrumental in fostering code standards and best practices, making sure our services are not just well-built, but also engineer-friendly.

As a member of the “Horizontal” team, you will have the opportunity to work on mission-critical projects that will shape the core of our business. You will apply your programming skills towards building quality services and highly performant web experiences as well as mentoring other engineers. You will be part of a team that works together to explore new boundaries and test new technologies.

What You'll Do:

• Design and develop robust, scalable, and efficient backend services using Elixir and its supporting frameworks – OTP, Ecto, and Phoenix.
• Leverage service-oriented architecture and event-driven systems to build scalable solutions.
• Manage and optimize applications for maximum speed, scalability, and maintainability.
• Collaborate with the team to define, design, and ship new features.
• Contribute to the entire development life cycle, from concept to release.
• Work closely with cross-functional teams, including product management, design, and other engineering teams.
• Ensure that all systems are designed and implemented with high security and data protection standards.

What We're Looking For:

• Proven experience as a Full Stack Engineer, 4+ years experience.
• Proficiency in Elixir, OTP, Ecto, and Phoenix.
• Familiarity with other programming languages such as python, Golang, TypeScript, PHP  is a plus.
• Knowledge of Content Management Systems (Such as Drupal or WordPress) is a plus. 
• Experience with service-oriented architecture and event-driven systems.
• Familiarity with AWS and Kubernetes.
• Strong understanding of the entire development process (design, development, deployment).
• Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to work well in a team.
• Demonstrated "can do" attitude with a willingness to tackle and solve complex problems.

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.

Compensation

• • USA Compensation Range: $100,000 - 150,000*
  • New York City Compensation Range: $100,00 - 200,000* *Note actual salary is based on qualifications, and experience.
