We are an in-office company, and our expectation is that employees primarily work from their Applied Intuition office 5 days a week. However, we also recognize the importance of flexibility and trust our employees to manage their schedules responsibly. This may include occasional remote work, starting the day with morning meetings from home before heading to the office, or leaving earlier when needed to accommodate family commitments. About the roleApplied is seeking a specialized Adaptive AUTOSAR Security Engineer to champion advanced embedded security within next-generation automotive platforms. This role focuses on designing, implementing, and maintaining robust security architectures tailored for Adaptive AUTOSAR environments and modern Vehicle OS ecosystems. The ideal candidate will lead security initiatives across multiple automotive programs, ensuring compliance with automotive cybersecurity regulations and best practices.
At Applied Intuition, you will:- Assess, guide, and enhance security for Adaptive AUTOSAR-based products and platforms, including Electronic Control Units (ECUs) and service-oriented architectures utilizing SOME/IP and SOME/IP-SD
- Design and implement Adaptive AUTOSAR security mechanisms including Crypto Stack APIs (Crypto Interface, Key Management, Certificate Management), Identity and Access Management (IAM), and secure communication channels using TLS
- Lead the implementation of secure boot processes leveraging AUTOSAR Crypto Service Manager (CSM) and integration with Hardware Security Modules (HSMs) for cryptographic operations, secure key storage, and hardware root of trust
- Implement and maintain SOME/IP security extensions (SOME/IP-SEC) for authentication and encryption of service-oriented communication between adaptive applications and ECUs
- Work closely with software developers to implement secure coding practices for Adaptive Applications, ensuring proper use of Execution Management, State Management, and secure inter-process communication mechanisms
- 3+ years of experience in cybersecurity or product security engineering, with a focus on automotive or embedded systems
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Cybersecurity, or a related technical field
- Deep expertise in Adaptive AUTOSAR security architecture, including:
- Crypto Stack: ara::crypto API, Key Slot Management, Crypto Provider interfaces
- Secure Communication: SOME/IP-SEC, TLS 1.3, IPsec, secure bindings for ara::com
- Identity and Access Management (IAM): Authentication, authorization, and role-based access control
- Platform Security: Secure boot, firmware verification, trusted execution environment
- Advanced knowledge of cryptographic algorithms (AES, RSA, ECC, SHA-256/384), X.509 certificate management, and public key infrastructure (PKI) for automotive applications
- Programming proficiency in C++14/17 (Adaptive AUTOSAR standard), C, and Python for security tooling and automation
- Hands-on experience with SOME/IP protocol implementation, service discovery (SOME/IP-SD), and securing service-oriented communication in automotive Ethernet networks
- Proven experience implementing secure boot processes, HSM integration (PKCS#11, SHE, EVITA), and Board Support Package (BSP) security for embedded automotive devices
Compensation at Applied Intuition for eligible roles includes base salary, equity, and benefits. Base salary is a single component of the total compensation package, which may also include equity in the form of options and/or restricted stock units, comprehensive health, dental, vision, life and disability insurance coverage, 401k retirement benefits with employer match, learning and wellness stipends, and paid time off. Note that benefits are subject to change and may vary based on jurisdiction of employment.
Applied Intuition pay ranges reflect the minimum and maximum intended target base salary for new hire salaries for the position. The actual base salary offered to a successful candidate will additionally be influenced by a variety of factors including experience, credentials & certifications, educational attainment, skill level requirements, interview performance, and the level and scope of the position.
