Role: Employee Relations Advisor (FTC - 12 months)

Location: London, England, United Kingdom (Onsite)

 

ROLE MISSION

Working in partnership with our client, the Employee Relations Specialist/Partner will promote a positive ER culture by ensuring that our employees are treated fairly and consistently, and in line with the company policies, whilst minimising risks to the business. You will need to have extensive ER knowledge and experience especially with Change Management (redundancy, consultation (high volume), selection matrix/assessments and scoring etc) along with knowledge of settlement agreements, handling disciplinary and grievances/concerns/queries. There is a large element of administration as well so attention to detail and experience in letter writing, FAQ’s etc. You will need to be super confident and really know your stuff in the ER world. You will support and advise managers on difficult people issues, and are experts in employment/labour law, and negotiating with them to resolve complex people issues.  

WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING IN YOUR ROLE

Here are some of the activities you can expect to be involved in as an employee relations specialist:

  • Creating/reviewing people policies 
  • Dealing with complex cases, such as disciplinary grievances and appeals 
  • Supporting the organisation through restructures 
  • Ensuring engagement is maintained and managers act in a way that involves their staff
  • Managing consultations and negotiations  
  • Dealing with disputes appropriately (for example, mediation or tribunal cases) 
  • Ensuring managers are upskilled to deal with people in a fair and effective manner
  • Overseeing all people practices ensuring they are legally compliant. 

WHAT SKILLS WILL HELP YOU BE SUCCESSFUL 

The ideal candidate will have/be: 

  • Previous experience of Tribunals / Acas Early Conciliation 
  • Ideally at least 4 years’ experience in HR and managing the above situations  
  • You are an advocate for promoting positive sustainable behaviours and able to put a sustainability lens on the strategic and creative process.
  • You will be open and willing to attend Change the Brief training and soak up recommended research and reading about sustainability issue
