    As a graduate joining the Energy and Commercial team, you'll have the opportunity to directly impact our customers' experience and play a vital role in advancing Plan Zero. You could help in buying renewable energy from wind farms, by crafting inventive tariffs for Electric Vehicle owners or supporting our trading in the wholesale markets. Join our team and be a part of redefining the energy landscape while helping our customers achieve their sustainability goals.

     

    This role in a nutshell:

    Over two years, you’ll rotate around four placements across the Energy and Commercial businesses within OVO. We’ll work with you to develop a tailored mix of placements that meet your aspirations for your future career. We want to ensure you have a great grounding in energy markets, learning about the fundamentals behind the energy commodity markets and how we manage the risks posed by changing market conditions and evolving customer demand expectations. We’ll also make sure you understand how we price our tariffs to our customers and how we develop exciting propositions, exploring new and exciting commercial markets.

    Specific placement opportunities include:

    Trading - OVO’s wholesale Gas and Power trading team

    Responsible for buying and selling energy in the wholesale markets, this team focuses on understanding what is driving price changes in the market and how to hedge our customer needs at the best price possible. This is all about maximising value for the business.

    Portfolio Management - OVO’s Risk Management team

    The Portfolio Management team looks after all the sophisticated risks that OVO has to manage as an energy retailer. Using sophisticated modelling and groundbreaking tools, this team works out how to place an effective hedge to minimise risk for OVO.

    Middle Office - OVO’s Risk Policy and Controlling team

    Responsible for ensuring that OVO’s commercial teams manage the business risks in a sensible and efficient way, Middle Office are partners to our Portfolio Management and Trading teams, working together to improve value and manage risk for OVO.

    Pricing - OVO’s customer price setting team

    The pricing team turns our cost estimates into a price for our Domestic customers. They have to ensure we can price competitively in a dynamic retail market, while ensuring we cover our costs. Working out where to price our offerings is one of the most exciting things to do!

    Renewables - OVO’s greenest energy team

    The Renewables team are responsible for signing up to agreements to buy the energy generated by renewable energy generators, so we can provide our customers with the lowest carbon energy we can.

    OVO Drive - OVO’s dedicated Electric Vehicle business unit

    Drive have products and propositions that span the EV charging ecosystem and OVO are renowned for being innovative and leading the market in smart charging and Vehicle to Grid technologies.

    Whatever placements you select, you’ll get to experience strategy and commercial performance across a large part of OVO, helping evaluate and steer strategy on where we should play, how we’ll win and what our priorities should be.     • We have three specific targets, around which our placements and development programme is crafted. We want you to:
    • Develop a broad energy experience
    • Develop eye for business and future leadership skills
    • Exit from the scheme into a full time role in Energy and Commercial teams.
    • In the meantime, while you’re on the scheme you will go through a development programme and placement programme from which we expect a return. While we develop you, we want you to develop OVO too - whether that be returns from your trading recommendations or delivering a new product proposition, we’re keen for you to improve your benefit.
    You’ll be successful at OVO if you…
    • Have a passion for energy and especially helping OVO on our mission towards Net Zero.
    • Have a track record of success in your academic and professional life. We’re asking for a minimum 2.1 predicted or achieved Degree. Especially interested in those graduates with a mathematically focussed degree.
    • Have some prior work or volunteering experience.
    • Have a high amount of get-up-and-go, have a strong can do demeanor,
    • Are comfortable working at pace and with high uncertainty.
    • Become comfortable with using mathematics on a day-to-day basis to analyse and propose solutions.

    We’ll pay you £34,000, You’ll be eligible for an on-target bonus of 15%. We have one OVO bonus plan that focuses on the collective performance of our people to deliver our Plan Zero goal.
