Pure Storage, with its 15-year legacy of simplifying data storage, is seeking a collaborative and results-oriented engineering director to champion the growth of a brand-new cloud storage product. This role will empower you to lead and inspire multiple engineering teams in Prague, fostering a culture of innovation and excellence.

Our cloud offerings are renowned for seamlessly blending a mature, feature-rich storage engine with cutting-edge cloud components. This requires a leader with a keen eye for the bigger picture – customer economics, vendor ecosystems, and overall company strategy – combined with a deep understanding of enterprise workload demands and solution needs.

In essence, you'll be a champion for collaboration, readily partnering with Product Management to refine business cases and seamlessly collaborating with the engineering team to navigate complex technical challenges.

SHOULD YOU ACCEPT THIS CHALLENGE...

  • Champion Pure's enterprise storage expertise for hyperscalers, transforming and adapting existing systems as needed.
  • Collaborate on and guide company-wide initiatives to adapt to the cloud business model across Product Management, Finance, Sales, and Operations.
  • Lead and mentor multiple engineering managers and teams to deliver and expand new cloud products.
  • Cultivate an engineering culture that values high-quality products, open communication, and teamwork.
  • Partner effectively with Engineering and Product leadership to create impactful solutions with deep ownership across the organization.
  • Develop, define, and lead strategy and roadmap, balancing short-term and long-term priorities with business goals.
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to create, drive, and deliver end-to-end system-level products.

WHAT YOU’LL NEED TO BRING TO THIS ROLE...

  • 10+ years of technical leadership experience, with at least 5 years of experience leading and mentoring teams.
  • 3+ years of experience as a Director in a multi-geographic setting, with a proven track record of leading teams of 50+ people (ideally 100+).
  • Deep expertise in systems-level development (C++, C, Kernel).
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills, particularly with senior leadership.
  • Proven track record in achieving high service uptime and implementing SRE functions.
  • Proven ability to build and lead high-performing teams from the ground up.
  • Demonstrated experience delivering reliable, enterprise-grade cloud services.
  • Experience in building, deploying, and operating cloud services.
  • Strong ability to lead and develop engineering management teams.
  • Excellent communication skills with a proven ability to build trust, credibility, and influence.
  • Skilled prioritization and project management expertise.
  • Ability to lead strategic initiatives while also providing detailed technical guidance to the team.
  • Enthusiastic, proactive, with a results-oriented and resourceful approach.
  • Prior experience in storage is a plus, but not required.

As this is an office-centric role, you are expected to be present in the office for 4 days a week. As outlined in Pure's Hybrid Work Policy, there will be variations over periods of time, depending on business need.
