And, we need a talented Engineering Team Lead to join our mission.

Here at Wise we’re working to create a seamless IT experience by offering all the tools and permissions people need to do the best work they can, and simultaneously avoid being a speed hump. We have a highly mobile, geographically diverse work environment and currently we look after several offices of varying sizes. 

The teams that support all this are called User Technology (UT). UT consists of autonomous teams that build and maintain everything needed to support our company mission. These teams include Device Management, Conferences and Events, Network Infrastructure, Service Management and User Access Management organized into various engineering and support functions.

We’re looking for an Engineering Lead for the UT Device Management Engineering  team. This team is responsible for global deployment, configuration and management of our entire end user fleet of devices, across all operating systems. It will be your responsibility to lead and drive the team forward. 

A bit about the job

  • Lead a team of Device Management Engineers and monitor their performance.
  • Coach and assist your team members on the day-to-day operations
  • Assist to recruit, train and support Engineers and set recruitment forecasts
  • Be an encyclopedia on the way we deploy our devices, what we configure and how we deploy our solutions.
  • Coordinate with Security and other relevant Engineering teams - this includes responding to incidents together with other teams.
  • Ensure standards are maintained and in line with the rest of UT, that things get documented and there is continuous improvement in team skill levels.
  • Seek to improve processes, responding to queries or audits & providing hands on technical expertise as time allows
  • Monitor Wise user feedback and Support team feedback - what to improve, why and how could we improve
  • Identify and escalate important issues to the various sub teams within UT and seek opportunities to collaborate on solutions

In your role as a lead, you will not only ensure service quality and uphold service-level agreements (SLAs) for prompt and efficient IT issue resolution, but also be responsible for setting KPIs to drive performance and KRIs to identify potential risks. Your leadership and financial oversight will be crucial in enhancing our organization's technical efficiency, service quality, and overall team performance.

A bit about you

  • Experience leading, coaching and mentoring driven and high performing teams
  • Organization is key. Ability to prioritize tasks and effectively track progress is a must. Wise - and the team - are rapidly scaling and growing.
  • You understand the value of balancing customer centric thinking and technical skills and can coach other engineers on both
  • Able to lead and maintain projects
  • Able to look at numbers and plan for forecast and budget needs
  • You enjoy creating an inspiring team environment where ideas are shared, and openness is valued
  • You're comfortable and confident providing input to other teams' priorities

Must have skills:

  • Your role will be a combination of leading a team of engineers and doing hands-on contribution: thus, we need experience in Windows and/or Mac in enterprise environments.
  • You have lead teams for 3 years. And you have industry experience for 6 years.
  • You have education in Information Technology or similar field. 
  • You’ll work closely with your engineers, to make both product, project and planning decisions. That means you should be able to show a high level of autonomy, coordination and how to remove blockers for engineers.
  • Good communicator, able to foster strong cross-team relationships both within and outside of your domain.
  • You know how Disaster Recovery, Risk management, Project Management, Change and Incident Management works. 
  • You are familiar with: InTune, Active Directory, Jamf, G Suite MDM. 
  • Strong understanding and hands-on experience with macOS, Windows and Linux device's security and network protocols.

Nice to have skills:

  • Linux experience with servers, end users, deployment, configuration.
  • Scripting capability in: bash, powershell, python or other relevant language.
  • Familiarity with Terraform, GitHub, elasticsearch.
  • Windows autopilot, Apple business manager, SCCM, PatchmyPC.
  • Understanding of AWS and network basics - the broader your knowledge, the greater your impacts across teams.
  • Familiarity with GDPR, DLP, PCI-DSS, ISO/IEC27001, SOC1 Type II, SOC2 Type II regulations.
  • Proficiency in LDAP, SAML, 0Auth, SCIM, SSO, MFA, API.
  • Experience with IAM solutions such as Okta and Sailpoint.
  • Experience using Atlassian, Slack, G-suit, SaltStack, Defender, BitLocker, VPN.
