We are an in-office company, and our expectation is that employees primarily work from their Applied Intuition office 5 days a week. However, we also recognize the importance of flexibility and trust our employees to manage their schedules responsibly. This may include occasional remote work, starting the day with morning meetings from home before heading to the office, or leaving earlier when needed to accommodate family commitments. About the role

As the Engineering Manager for the Remote Assistance team, you’ll lead the development and deployment of a critical system enabling remote human support for L4 autonomous trucks. You’ll build and manage a world-class team of engineers focused on delivering robust architecture, technical milestones, and operational protocols for real-time human intervention in complex or ambiguous scenarios. In this highly cross-functional role, you’ll work with Safety and Operations to define operator training, HMI interfaces, and incident review workflows, while partnering with Regulatory and Legal teams to ensure alignment with evolving standards in the U.S. and Japan. You’ll play a key role in shaping the roadmap, driving execution, and growing a high-performing, mission-driven team.

At Applied Intuition, you will:
  • Lead the Remote Assistance team responsible for supporting remote operations of L4 trucks. Grow and manage a team of world class engineers that will deploy this critical function for commercial trucking scenarios
  • Drive the definition of the technical architecture, technical milestones and ensure efficient execution towards those goals
  • Define roadmap and operational protocols for remote human intervention in challenging or ambiguous scenarios
  • Work with Safety and Ops to establish operator training, HMI requirements, and incident review procedures
  • Coordinate with Regulatory and Legal to ensure RA system alignment with evolving frameworks in the US and Japan
  • Recruit, mentor, and grow a high-functioning cross-disciplinary team
We’re looking for someone who has:
  • 5+ years of management experience
  • Passion for building and leading high-functional teams
  • Experience with onboard and offboard infrastructure and building highly distributed systems
  • Experience in autonomous driving, specifically on Remote Assistance
  • Solid track record of building and deploying products
Nice to have:
  • Work experience in Trucking Autonomy
  • Startup experience

Compensation at Applied Intuition for eligible roles includes base salary, equity, and benefits. Base salary is a single component of the total compensation package, which may also include equity in the form of options and/or restricted stock units, comprehensive health, dental, vision, life and disability insurance coverage, 401k retirement benefits with employer match, learning and wellness stipends, and paid time off. Note that benefits are subject to change and may vary based on jurisdiction of employment.

Applied Intuition pay ranges reflect the minimum and maximum intended target base salary for new hire salaries for the position. The actual base salary offered to a successful candidate will additionally be influenced by a variety of factors including experience, credentials & certifications, educational attainment, skill level requirements, interview performance, and the level and scope of the position.
