Innovating product capabilities is critical for the growth of our business, and the responsibility of that lies primarily with the product engineering teams.
The enterprise team’s mission is to grow adoption of our product within existing customer accounts. We listen to our users and build based on their perspectives. We move quickly and diligently. We are passionate about pairing and unifying customers with technology.

- Product engineering teams at Mixpanel work very closely with Product Managers and Designers in autonomous pods working on strategic goals.
- Teams have access to all the information that’s needed to make good decisions - customer support tickets, feature requests, business health data, design docs, and so on.
- We start from customer problems, think from the basics and always challenge the status quo. We like to come up with simple solutions for complex problems. We don’t like over-engineering.
- The responsibility of execution, quality control and operations all lies with the engineering team, we don’t have project managers, quality engineers or site reliability engineers.
- We prefer docs, Mixpanel dashboards and demos over slide decks.
- We use Slack, Github, Mixpanel, Notion, Figma and Zoom to share our ideas and communicate (in the open, as much as possible).
- Our engineers, designers and product managers work from various cities across North America with clusters in San Francisco Bay Area, Seattle and Austin.
- Start managing one team and may manage more in the future (must be excited to manage individual contributors)
- Team building, performance management and culture: You’ll be responsible for hiring, growing and retaining talent via motivation, mentorship and coaching. You’ll be responsible for building an inclusive culture on your team where creativity thrives and Mixpanel’s cultural values (Customer Focus, Lead Change, One Team, Results Oriented, Be Open) are rewarded. While doing that, you’ll also be helping shape the culture of the broader engineering org.
- Strategy, alignment and execution: You’ll be partnering with Product Management, Design and Engineering leads to come up with a strategy and roadmap for your team. You’ll be responsible for clearly communicating the strategy to your team, keeping the team aligned and focused. You’ll be responsible for enabling the team to build high quality products with speed, learn as they ship, and iterate.
- Technical decisions. For Staff/Principal TLM role, you will be expected to be more hands on in technical decision making (for example, you will do code reviews and be on the on-call rotation of your team). For Sr. Manager or Director roles, you may not be hands on, but you will still need to have a deep enough understanding of the inner workings and operations to enable the team and tech leads to make good investment and prioritization decisions.
- Prior experience designing, building and operating a web application.
- Prior experience as a technical lead of an engineering team that worked closely with designers on UX problems.
- Experience making technical decisions and tradeoffs for your team, and understanding of lessons learnt from them
- Instances where you, either as tech lead or manager, displayed leadership by aligning, motivating, or growing the team.
- For Senior Manager role, prior people management experience is necessary.
- For Director role, experience managing managers is necessary.
