Engineering Manager, Payments, Growth Alliance (m/f/x)
The Global Payments team at HelloFresh is responsible for processing payments periodically as a subscription business, ensuring our customers are able to pay seamlessly with their preferred payment method. We also focus on managing customer profitability at the company level through various retention-based initiatives. You will be part of a team that has a direct impact on the customer experience while optimizing for various business KPIs. We build in-house products using modern technologies to handle a massive scale of transactions (> 8.5 million active customers) and are continuously improving the SDLC for fast flow and continuous delivery.
The roleAs an Engineering Manager for Payments, you will be responsible for a team that builds tools and services for our customers to pay in the most efficient and scalable ways. By developing a deep understanding of who our customers are, you will tailor our charging strategies to their needs. Moreover, you will work closely with our payments business operations, helping them to understand our customers’ preferred ways to pay, while also providing them with easy-to-use integrations. These capabilities are an important building block of our growth strategy at HelloFresh and contribute directly to the success of our mission to change the way people eat forever.
What you'll do- Lead, inspire, and grow a cross-functional team of engineers (Backend / Mobile / Web) while ensuring smooth delivery of new products and continuous improvements to your team’s tech real estate.
- Drive architectural and design decisions in the team, having a strong focus on the highest quality standards, engineering best practices, and operational excellence.
- Ensure close collaboration and joint decision-making between different engineering teams and stakeholders, especially product leads.
- Participate actively in the tribe leadership team, with the goal to shape and evolve our culture of collaboration and mutual support.
- You are an experienced engineering leader who has a deep understanding of your domain.
- You can actively contribute to the system design process using event-driven architecture. Experience with domain-driven design is a plus.
- You have led cross-functional teams (5-10 engineers) according to agile principles.
- You have a great understanding and working knowledge of building scalable software products based on microservice architectures.
- You are a strong, empathetic communicator and active listener.
- You are self-organized and can operate autonomously in a demanding, fast-moving environment.
- You can solve complex problems and remove roadblocks.
- You are a humble leader, who is able to motivate a team and drive them to their highest potential.
