Location- Austin, TX- (open to 100% remote outside of Austin, TX for the right candidate)

As an Engineering Manager for the Threat Detection and Content Teams you will be a hands-on development leader for multiple teams within the Sumo Logics Cloud-SIEM organization. You will provide technical leadership and mentoring, encouraging professional and personal growth for everyone on your team. You will work with Product Management to define breakdowns and set priorities for new product features and stakeholders outside of engineering, internal to Sumo, and external with clients.

The ideal candidate will have successfully led an engineering team focused on building large-scale distributed systems, data ingest and pipelines at scale as a SaaS solution, preferably with a security focus.

Responsibilities:

• Provide leadership and mentoring for engineers on your teams Lead one or more teams of software engineers and work in service of the team.
• Create an environment to foster the professional and personal growth of each engineer in the team
• Help engineers to arrive at good designs by asking insightful questions
• Remove obstacles that prevent teams from achieving their goals
• Be the ‘connective tissue’ between teams and functions to coordinate change
• Hold the business accountable to provide Prioritized Business Objectives of ‘what’ needs to happen
• Hold the teams accountable to define and deliver ‘how’ those objectives will be achieved with technology
• Rally technical leads and architects across teams as needed

Requirements:

• 2+ years of experience managing technical teams
• Strong technical aptitude to lead an engineering team
• Ability to meet challenges under demanding conditions and keep calm under pressure.
• Organized and able to work cross functionally to deliver product features on tight schedules
• A bias toward action and a self-starter mentality
• Flexible and willing to step in and take ownership as needs arise
• BS in Computer Science or related discipline preferred

The expected annual base salary range for this position is $190-210k base salary + 10% bonus + Equity. Compensation varies based on a variety of factors which include (but aren’t limited to) role level, skills and competencies, qualifications, knowledge, location, and experience. In addition to base pay, certain roles are eligible to participate in our bonus or commission plans, as well as our benefits offerings, and equity awards.
