Job Description:We are seeking an Environmental Compliance Manager to join our US sustainability team, supporting new and existing environmental requirements across our facility portfolio, operation of environmental control equipment, and leading the tracking of compliance status. Reporting to the Senior Director of Sustainability, the Environmental Compliance Manager will engage partners across the US that support our compliance activities, develop relationships with key internal and external program partners, and track the metrics and performance indicators that define this program; this includes several Environmental Compliance Technicians at some facilities that will be “dotted line” reports. To succeed in this role, you’ll need to have a broad understanding of U.S. environmental regulations, experience with environmental sampling and compliance reporting, and familiarity with water treatment technologies common in commercial food manufacturing.

You will ...
  • Summarize Environmental Technician findings on a weekly and monthly basis, identifying trends and best practices, and engaging facility-level teams in continuous improvement efforts;
  • Oversee Environmental Compliance Technicians, in conjunction with the local supervisors they report into, adjusting job and reporting duties as needed;
  • Track monthly, quarterly, and annual regulatory and permit requirements;
  • Develop and maintain compliance tracking and analysis tools in Excel and G Sheets as needed;
  • Ensure any required sampling, compliance submittals, and monitoring reports are is performed in a timely manner (e.g. wastewater pretreatment, emergency planning and community right-to-know, minor source air emissions);
  • Prepare and submit compliance reports and submittals, under the oversight of the Sr. Director of Sustainability, and drawing on internal expertise from our facilities teams;
  • Lead periodic compliance evaluation efforts at each facility, identifying any potential gaps in our strategy;
  • Represent the environmental technical function with Maintenance and Construction teams in regard to any compliance equipment design, construction, and maintenance;
  • Maintain ongoing dialogue with regulatory agencies

At a minimum, you have...
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or related field; masters degree a plus
  • 3-5 years of experience in environmental compliance; it is a plus if this was in a consulting environment with broad exposure to many media and permit scenarios
  • Engineer-in Training status for having passed the Fundamentals of Engineering exam
  • Exposure to eCommerce fulfillment centers, commercial kitchens, and refrigerated manufacturing environments preferred.
