We’re in an unbelievably exciting area of tech and are fundamentally reshaping the data storage industry. Here, you lead with innovative thinking, grow along with us, and join the smartest team in the industry.

This type of work—work that changes the world—is what the tech industry was founded on. So, if you're ready to seize the endless opportunities and leave your mark, come join us.

THE ROLE

As a Field Customer Quality Engineer, you are the technical vanguard ensuring the elite performance of our server and storage systems at the world’s most sophisticated data centers. You will bridge the gap between complex hardware engineering and real-world customer environments, transforming high-pressure "Field Crisis" events into opportunities for technical excellence and long-term product hardening. By collaborating with cross-functional design and manufacturing teams, you act as the definitive voice for quality, ensuring that every hardware iteration is more resilient than the last.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

  • Orchestrate Technical Resolutions: Lead rapid-response investigations into complex hardware and system-level failures, utilizing deep-dive forensics like X-ray and EDX to determine root causes and prevent recurrence.
  • Drive Global Quality Standards: Own the end-to-end "Stop Ship" and "Purge" protocols when critical defects arise, managing cross-functional execution across Hardware Design, BIOS/FW, and Supply Chain teams to protect the customer experience.
  • Strategic Customer Advocacy: Serve as the authoritative technical liaison for high-severity events, translating intricate engineering data into transparent, executive-level recovery strategies and risk assessments.
  • Influence Product Evolution: Cycle real-world performance metrics and "Lessons Learned" back into New Product Introduction (NPI) phases to influence the design of next-generation high-performance architectures.

WHAT YOU BRING

  • Deep Hardware Forensic Expertise: Mastery of PCBA integrity, including SMT assembly processes and IPC standards, with the ability to diagnose complex failure modes like signal integrity issues or via failures.
  • System-Level Technical Fluency: Proven ability to troubleshoot high-speed server architectures (x86), PCIe protocols, and storage interfaces such as NVMe, SAS, or SATA within a data center context.
  • Crisis Program Leadership: A "fast-paced" mindset with the ability to pivot instantly from long-term quality projects to urgent field investigations, driving multi-disciplinary teams toward rapid resolution using structured methodologies like 8D or 5-Why.
  • Influential Communication: Exceptional ability to synthesize technical data for diverse stakeholders, gaining cooperation in sensitive, high-pressure situations to reach favorable outcomes for both the customer and the business.
  • We are primarily an in-office environment and therefore, you will be expected to work from the Houston, TX office in compliance with Pure’s policies, unless you are on PTO, or work travel, or other approved leave.
