Finance Analyst, Strategic Ops Finance - Large Parcel 

This position is a hybrid in-office role that works out of our Headquarters in Boston, MA (this role is not a virtual / remote position). 4 days in office/ 1 day WFH

The Strategic Operations Finance (SOF) - transportation team is looking for a highly motivated, analytical and out of the box thinking individual for the role of Analyst in our team. The Analyst will be a key contributor in supporting the reporting of Wayfair Delivery Network transportation (WDN) P&L and involved in developing financial and operational forecasting for the WDN network for United States & Canada operations. Additionally, the Analyst will be required to forge strong business relationships with our transportation operations, finance and tech stakeholders to provide key insights into their spend and aid in efforts to optimize those costs. 

Who we are: The SOF - Transportation team (Within broader SOF) plays a critical role  in supporting the Transportation and Delivery (T&D) Operations team and broader Wayfair organization by providing our stakeholders and executive team with analytics and forecasts necessary to drive global business forward and make key decisions. The team works cross-functionally with various business partners from other finance teams, pricing, operations and tech to improve cost visibility, lead budgeting for strategic initiatives, track cost savings and perform ad hoc analysis for leadership.

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Translate high-level business problems into more specific questions which can then be answered by data-driven analysis
  • Partner with various business stakeholders to identify key factors and requirements for each project, and obtain buy-in or resources for project execution
  • Develop and maintain analysis and reporting using SQL, Google sheets and Looker Studio/similar dashboarding tools.
  • Make recommendations based on findings, ensuring that analysis is used to drive business strategy.
  • Develop metrics to precisely measure success / failure, and create quantitative feedback mechanisms to align teams with objectives.
  • Leverage internal and external sources to innovate and drive change and consistency in our operations.
  • Research and develop streamlined data maintenance processes by understanding data intricacies and where tech changes need to be made.

The Right Candidate Has:

  • You have 1+ years of relevant working experience in a fast-paced, results-oriented environment
  • You have a degree in Supply Chain, Finance, Statistics, Economics, Business Analytics, Engineering or other concentrations with a quantitative focus preferred
  • Analytical, creative, and innovative approach to solving problems; experienced with data analytics and model development
  • Passionate about solving complex business problems
  • Possess strong written and verbal cross-functional communication skills
  • Experience working in an operational environment to drive business / customer outcomes
  • Experience with Excel and Microsoft/Google suite preferred
  • Nice to have but not required: GBQ, SQL, R or Python skills.
