THE ROLEKey responsibilities

Our Finance Directors play a vital role within the Blenheim Chalcot portfolio. This role will own the end-to-end Finance function for one of our portfolio companies, a B2B Saas provider, reporting directly into their CEO and BC’s Global CFO. This is key moment in the ventures journey as they have recently launched a new product and doubled down on US expansion. The role will be seconded full-time into the portfolio company on a long-term assignment while also benefiting from being part of the BC Finance Director community and the longer-term career opportunities that the wider BC portfolio offers.  You will gain hands-on experience in a fast-paced and progressive environment, where you will support us in building our next generation of GenAI enabled tech businesses.

 

Specific duties

The role will cover the full end-to-end Finance function and you will need to be comfortable being responsible for the following:

FP&A and Financial Strategy:

  • Develop and implement the Board’s financial strategy in alignment with the company’s goals and objectives.
  • Drive financial planning, budgeting, and forecasting processes to ensure accurate and timely financial information
  • Drive proactive revenue and sales pipeline management processes.
  • Provide insights and recommendations to the executive team for informed decision-making regarding pricing, profitability, and growth strategies.
  • Engage with Board and provide regular updates on financial performance, market trends, and investment opportunities.

Financial Control and Reporting:

  • Oversee financial control systems, policies, and procedures to ensure compliance with regulatory and shareholder reporting requirements.
  • Produce accurate and timely financial reports, including monthly management accounts, KPIs, and financial statements, for presentation to the Board and stakeholders.
  • Conduct financial analysis and provide meaningful insights on key performance indicators (KPIs) to drive business performance and identify areas for improvement.

Working Capital Management & Risks:

  • Manage and optimise working capital and treasury, including cash flow, accounts receivable, and payable, to maintain liquidity and support operational needs.
  • Develop strategies for effective treasury management, ensuring funding arrangements with institutional lenders are managed appropriately.
  • Monitor and mitigate financial risks through robust risk management practices and reporting.

  • You will have a demonstrable track record of overseeing both accounting and financial planning & analysis functions.

Technical experience 

  • Qualified accountant (+7 years PQE)
  • Experience as a FD/Head of Finance/Financial Controller/Head of FP&A in leading an end-to-end Finance function, sector experience in B2B SaaS is preferred but not essential
  • You will have proven success serving as a true business partner to executive teams within a high-growth company
  • You will have experience identifying business opportunities, analysing the competitive landscape, and developing financial models that are consistent with the company’s overall strategy.
  • You will possess the business acumen and broad financial perspective to act as a strategic sounding board to the Senior Management Team.
