At Butternut Box, we are on a mission to deliver health and happiness to dogs everywhere. As we continue our rapid international expansion we are seeking a proactive, technically brilliant Financial Controller to join our high performing Finance team, reporting in to our Group Head of Finance. This role will be heavily involved in all key accounting and reporting activities, with a focus on effective financial management and ensuring a robust control environment that allows us to scale sustainably   The role would suit a proactive candidate who is ready to step up in their career, comfortable working in a fast-paced environment and eager to be part of a business where they can have a tangible positive impact.     Key responsibilities
  • Lead the timely and accurate delivery of monthly management accounts.
  • Act as a trusted business partner to stakeholders across the business as part of period end processes and beyond, equipping them with accurate financial support and spend analysis.
  • Partner with FP&A to deliver commercially astute commentary and actionable analysis of key financial metrics to drive decision making.
  • Support the Group consolidation ensuring consistenty of intercompany recharges and reconciliations.
  • Maintain rigorous balance sheet hygiene through comprehensive periodic reconciliations, reviews, and proactive resolution of variances.
  • Champion a best in class control environment by embedding robust processes and controls within our day to day and periodic processes.
  • Support good governance and controls around payment runs and transactional finance. 
  • Play a key role in successfully delivering external reporting including the annual statutory audit process.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive financial performance and deliver on ad hoc projects.
  • Coach and mentor individuals across the finance team, fostering a high performance culture.
  • Drive the continuous improvement of ERP systems and financial tools to automate manual tasks and enhance data integrity in an AI enabled environment.
👀 What we're looking for: 
  • Qualified accountant (ACA, CIMA or ACCA) at least 3+ years post qualification, likely to be a second time mover with audit background (ideally Big 4) or strong industry experience 
  • Experience in a product led business preferred (e.g. FMCG, retail, ecommerce, manufacutring)
  • Highly curious and ambitious individual who naturally strives for better every day and wants to grow alongside a scaling business. 
  • Someone who thrives in a fast-paced, busy growth environment and enjoys the challenge of evolving processes on the go. 
  • Technologically minded individual who is curious about developing an AI enabled finance function.
  • Highly competent MS Excel user (Advanced formulas, Pivot tables, and data manipulation). SAP/SAP Business1 experience would be a plus
  • A love of Dogs is essential!
⏳ The interview process:
  • Initial call with the Hiring Manager, carried out remotely. 
  • Skills interview, usually carried out remotely. 
  • Behaviours interview, carried out in person.
  • Final Leadership interview, in person in our office in White City.
  • We usually expect our interview process to take 3-5 weeks, end to end.

    💡 Important things to note:
    • We recommend getting your application in as soon as possible. We reserve the right to close the role early. 
    • Our team thrives on collaboration. We spend 3 days a week in our West London office (Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday) and 2 days working from wherever you’re most productive. Because being together is a big part of our culture, we’re looking for someone within a comfortable commutable distance to London.
