We’re looking for a passionate and detail-oriented Financial Controller to join our global finance team and oversee the day-to-day financial operations of SMSBump, our local entity in Bulgaria. As part of the finance team, you will be part of our day-to-day accounting operations and monthly closing process. The finance team is responsible for all aspects, from ensuring that we are compliant with all tax regulations and business obligations through planning ahead and enabling the infrastructure needed to provide the company’s future growth. This role requires a strong grasp of local accounting and tax regulations, as well as the ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced, tech-driven, and globally distributed environment.
How you’ll make an impact:
- Oversee monthly financial close including review of reconciliations: bank, credit cards, prepaid, fixed assets, and payroll.
- Managing the local bookkeeping team.
- Supervise employee expense reimbursements and vendors' payment cycles.
- Review intercompany allocations and sublease invoicing.
- Prepare full P&L provisions on a quarterly basis and review the provisions received by the FP&A.
- Perform payroll-related accruals and employee balance reconciliations.
- Conduct P&L, Balance Sheet, and payroll trend analysis.
- Coordinate with external accounting firms for VAT filings, tax returns, and statutory reports.
- Lead the annual audit process and corporate income tax return filing.
- Submit financial statements to authorities on time.
About You:
- CPA Fluent in English, with strong communication skills (written and spoken).
- In-depth knowledge of Bulgarian accounting and tax laws.
- Experience in a global, tech-driven environment – an advantage.
- Proficient in ERP systems, especially NetSuite – strong advantage.
- Strong analytical and organizational skills, with ability to multitask under pressure.
- A team player with hands-on experience and ownership mindset.
- Strong technical aptitude and ease working with multiple financial systems and tools
- Excellent interpersonal skills and experience in managing accounting teams
