Fleet Maintenance Supervisor (Starship)

FLEET MAINTENANCE SUPERVISOR (STARSHIP)
SpaceX is looking for an experienced Fleet Maintenance Supervisor to oversee all maintenance activities at the SpaceX Starship production site, Boca Chica. The Fleet Maintenance Supervisor will maintain and troubleshoot the most advanced machines and equipment required to produce our rockets and spacecraft. This will include automotive assets, heavy transit vehicles, heavy industrial lifting equipment, diesel engine maintenance, self-propelled modular transporters (SPMT), cranes, small engine repair, and various types of industrial equipment. The Fleet Maintenance Supervisor will be responsible for ensuring work is completed based on work order schedules and emergency breakdowns.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Leads a team of technicians through daily repairs, preventative maintenance actions, complex continuous improvement projects, to ensure maximum asset availability for Starbase.
- Manages weekly workload distribution and technician task assignments
- Triage of incoming maintenance requests from internal customers, and effectively resource manage the priority workload with all available resources
- Works with third party vendors for parts acquisition, asset documentation standards, training, and on-site maintenance actions
- Subject matter expert in equipment maintenance troubleshooting, project management, team key performance indicator analysis, maintenance system performance indicator analysis, and high-level people leadership in a fast paced highly iterative environment.
- Lead a diverse technician team to troubleshoot and repair various systems such as mechanical, hydraulic, electrical and pneumatic.
- Provide developmental leadership to a team of technicians, facilitating training and advancement of skills, to maintain cutting edge technologies including maintaining a skills matrix for all technicians.
- Responsible for root cause analysis reports to feedback learning and improvement opportunities to the maintenance manager and asset owners to further improve maintenance performance.
- Perform other related duties, as assigned, for the purpose of ensuring an efficient and effective work environment
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree or 4+ years of experience in a maintenance or field-work environment with a high school diploma or equivalency certificate
- 2+ years of experience leading a team, including leading projects and people
PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering discipline or other related field.
- Proficiency in Microsoft applications such as Excel, Outlook, Word and PowerPoint
- Proficiency in asset management software
- Experience managing budgets
- Experience maintaining cranes and SPMTs
- Experience managing third-party vendors
- Experience negotiating contracts and comparing service costs to achieve maximum value
- Ability to work independently with little direction
- Ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced, ever-changing priorities environment
- Ability to anticipate needs and develop innovative solutions for continuous improvement
- Ability to effectively communicate (verbal and written) with engineering, production, build, and support teams.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Ability to lift 50 lbs. unassisted, lifting, standing, climbing, bending, grasping, sitting, pulling, pushing, stooping, stretching, and carrying are generally required to perform the functions of this position.
- Must be willing to work at elevated heights and in tight spaces
- Must be willing to work long hours, nights, and weekends with limited notice to meet the business needs
- Provide 24/7 on-call support of all critical activities and emergency situations
