We are on an exciting growth journey and are looking for a Freelance Interior Designer with extensive knowledge of architecture and interior design principles to join our team. In this role, you will collaborate with our Design Studio, shaping unique and inspiring spaces for diverse housing, commercial, and hospitality projects across Europe. Your Responsibilities
- Collaborate closely with the Design Team to develop and deliver projects primarily in Italy and across Europe.
- Lead a variety of projects, including housing, commercial, and hospitality developments, such as apartments, hotels, co-living spaces, student housing, and restaurants.
- Manage both new developments and refurbishment projects, ranging in scale from small units to large complexes (20–400+ rooms).
- Plan and oversee project execution, including timeline creation and defining scopes of work.
- Participate in all project stages, from property layout analysis to final implementation, covering architecture, interior design, and product design.
- Develop comprehensive documentation, including mood boards, order lists, production drawings (e.g., kitchen and furniture), signage strategies, and tagged plans.
- Align projects with brand standards and actively contribute to evolving and enhancing the brand's design direction.
- Coordinate seamlessly with internal teams such as Procurement, Project Management, and Marketing, ensuring smooth onboarding and project finalization.
- Liaise with landlords, their teams, and external partners to manage projects through to completion.
- Set and manage budgets for furniture, fixtures, equipment (FFE), and operating supplies and equipment (OSE).
- Conduct site visits, in-person meetings, and oversee preparations for installation and styling before project openings.
- Propose and implement process improvements to enhance workflow, communication, and documentation across teams.
Your Qualifications
- Professional Experience: A minimum of 5 years in architecture or interior design, with a strong portfolio showcasing diverse projects.
- Language Proficiency: Full professional fluency in Italian and English is required; knowledge of other European languages is a plus.
- Collaborative & Independent: Thrives as a team player while demonstrating the ability to work autonomously.
- Industry Knowledge: Solid background in hospitality, student housing, and refurbishment projects, with an understanding of industry-specific demands.
- Leadership & Project Management: Proven track record of leading and managing projects from conception to completion, ensuring quality and adherence to timelines.
- Creative & Strategic Thinking: Capable of developing innovative design concepts while aligning with brand objectives.
- Material & Supplier Knowledge: Familiarity with local material and furniture suppliers, including sourcing and production processes.
- Regulatory Awareness: Comprehensive understanding of building codes and regulations in Italy and other European regions such as NL, PT, FR, DACH, and ES.
