L1 Cyber Security Engineer 

Summer 2024 Start

Cyber security at Wayfair is responsible for protecting Wayfair’s production systems wherever they may live. We constantly seek innovative and automated ways to implement security throughout the Wayfair environment. We also thrive on generating and enriching security data for incident responders so they are well informed about the threats we face. We are looking to bring on a Security Engineer who can help us maintain and grow our security technology stack as Wayfair matures and evolves. This person should be passionate about information security, highly analytical, and not afraid to implement solutions through automation and code! 

Responsibilities you will be tasked with: 

  • Support and conduct security and privacy assessments of systems, data flows, and third party vendors. 
  • Participate in establishing appropriate controls for Cloud Security, Endpoint Protection, Security Software Development, Identity & Access Management, and Data Protection. ● Participate in the development, maintenance and implementation of security tools ● Collaborate with other IT security and privacy professionals to provide exceptional support and problem resolution 
  • Review and update security and privacy policies, standards, and procedures. ● Support and help devise security and privacy awareness campaigns. ● Review and understand compliance regulations, such as SOX and PCI. ● Administering core security infrastructure such as SIEM, FIM, Vulnerability Scanners, and IDS. 
  • Deploying security tools to cloud environments such as AWS, Azure, or GCP. ● Solving tactical security problems through the use of code and automation ● Implementing security checks within Infrastructure build and deploy pipelines. ● Advising other engineering teams on security best practices and working with them to achieve business goals. 
  • Responding to and remediating relevant security incidents. 
  • Participate in team initiatives 
  • Support the company's commitment to protect the integrity and confidentiality of systems and data. 

Skills and experience we value:

  • Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Cybersecurity, CS, Engineering or a related field ● An understanding of basic security concepts and practices. 
  • You have a proven track record of strong academic performance. 
  • Working knowledge of Python or other modern scripting language 
  • Familiarity with general network security principles and best practices ● Familiarity with both Windows and Linux system administration principles ● Some experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP ● Some experience with containers and orchestration technology such as Docker and Kubernetes is also a HUGE plus. 
  • Some experience with Open Policy Agent is a HUGE plus 
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills 
  • Ability to work independently and within a team environment. 
  • Technical capability and/or interest in one or more of these areas: 

○ Scripting 

○ Log analysis 

○ Identity and Access Management 

○ Ethical Hacking 

○ Networking 

○ Cloud Computing 

○ Data Science 

○ DevSecOps 

  • A strong willingness to learn and tackle new challenges 

An Important Note about Wayfair's In-Office Policy: 

All Toronto-based interns, co-ops, and corporate employees will be in office in a hybrid capacity. Employees will work in the office on designated days, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, and work remotely the other 2 days of the week.eek.
