Luminar is seeking an experience Functional Safety Manager to define and manage software systems safety architecture to meet product requirements and functional safety targets where you will bring your automotive embedded systems experience to lead the safety management activities from concept to production.

Responsibilities
  • Responsible as the Luminar interface to customers for all Functional Safety activities
  • Responsible for the Functional Safety lifecycle according to ISO 26262 for System development
  • Provide subject matter expertise on Functional Safety related to our Product, System Architecture development including Safety standards and best practices for FuSa development
  • Definition of system and safety architecture and design to meet product requirements and achieve functional safety targets
  • Create safety specification documentation translating product requirements to system and safety requirements fulfilling architecture specifications
  • Responsible and owner of Safety works products including TSC, IA and Safety analysis like System FMEA, HAZOP, FTA, DFA and FFI
  • Responsible for creating guidelines and best practices for System development to meet ISO 26262 and ASPICE certification targets
  • Develop technical safety concepts and respective technical safety requirements for LiDAR Systems
  • Responsible for defining and creating Safety mechanisms in System Architecture and their integration into various HW and SW Safety Architectures
  • Support and design validation and verification strategies for System Tests
  • Support creation of test specification and acceptance criteria for System Tests
  • Ensure compliance to relevant automotive industry standards not limited to ISO 26262, ISO 21488, AutoSAR, C++, MISRA, etc.
  • Implement safety standards and Safety development processes across multiple projects
  • Provide Safety training to internal Luminar system and software professionals
  • Research and review new tools, technologies and industry trends which might affect current and future products
  • Provide clear communication to other teams, peers, customers and external stakeholders
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer, Electrical, Systems Engineering or equivalent
  • 5+ years of industry experience in Functional Safety development
  • Deep system knowledge of Functional Safety and SOTIF on a management and engineering level
  • Experience with managing functional safety processes in an agile context
  • Systems development and safety concept development in an ADAS/ADS domain
  • Experience with safety analysis methods (DFMEA, FTA, HARA, IA, FFI, HAZOP, etc.)
  • Experience with designing and development in accordance with quality, functional safety (ASPICE, ISO 26262, AutoSAR)
  • Experience working with cross-functional teams across organizational and geographical boundaries
  • Excellent communication skills
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's Degree in Computer, Electrical, Systems Engineering or equivalent
  • Experience with proofing or assessing functional artifacts and processes 
  • Experience in embedded development and with automotive safety critical HW and SW
  • Demonstrated research and application experience in FuSa
  • Involvement in standards development
  • Professional record and a strong and demonstrable work ethic
  • Out-of-the-box thinking and invent creative solutions for challenging problems
