As a freelance Creative Director, you bring excellent visual problem solving and creative thinking to your team and onsite with clients. Fast on your feet, you adeptly juggle multiple projects and their deadlines—for yourself and your team—to exceed the needs and goals of all stakeholders. Through encouraging design best practices, you play an instrumental role growing the agency’s business, culture, and brand. And you’re definitely interested in recruiting sharp, skillful, and engaged CM’ers to your project teams. Most importantly, you are passionate about creativity, typography, design systems, with a commitment to simple, clean design.

You Will

  • Lead the design of a digital design system, both building from established patterns and iterating on new design components to evolve the system
  • Be a hands-on creative lead with the desire and capability to manage a small design team
  • Build and maintain creative culture within the design team
  • Understand skillsets and personalities of team members to find areas for opportunity or improvement
  • Collaborate, prioritize, and delegate to a small team of designers while keeping your individual work streams on track
  • Establish strong rapport with other discipline leads, collaborating with Account, Strategy, UX and Content/Copy peers
  • Act as a lead representing the design discipline in recurring status meetings for all active and potential projects
  • Stay familiar with the latest trends and work in the digital design industry

You Have

  • 8+ years relevant experience in a creative or marketing organization
  • Experience in a lead design role within a project-based strategic, creative, or technical agency environment
  • A portfolio of relevant experience design work that you can share (ideally, site or app-based work)
  • Experience that leans towards digital design, responsive layout & hierarchy, experience flows, or ecommerce
  • An interest in design systems and strong working knowledge of Figma and other industry standard creative tools
  • Confidence interfacing with clients; presenting work and managing the design and feedback processes
  • Knowledge of digital processes and the creative process
  • A test and learn mindset with the willingness to embrace and adapt to change
  • Ability to thrive in a creative, fast-paced environment
