The worldwide data management software market is massive (IDC forecasts it to be 136 billion by 2027!). At MongoDB, we are transforming industries and empowering developers to build amazing apps that people use every day. We are the leading developer data platform and the first database provider to IPO in over 20 years. Join our team and be at the forefront of innovation and creativity.

We seek motivated and talented students to help us build the next-generation database platform. As an intern you will work directly with MongoDB’s product managers, user experience designers, and software engineers. You will be fully integrated into the team, helping to understand and analyze users’ needs and pain points, and advocating on their behalf. You will mine various data sources, and discuss technical constraints with engineers and designers to create new product requirements and experiences. You will also refine and communicate the product strategy to relevant stakeholders.

What we are looking for in you:

  • In the process of receiving a Bachelor’s or Master's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Applied Sciences, or a related field
  • Technical skills; while not expected to write production code, you should be comfortable diving into design and code, particularly Python. You must be able to learn from existing examples, explore APIs, triage bugs, and speak on any of the technical aspects of the tools in your portfolio
  • Communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Curious and have a desire to learn and adapt; you are a self-starter and thrive in ambiguity
  • Have a minimum of one quarter/semester remaining in university studies after the internship concludes.
  • Must be authorized to work in Australia. Company sponsorship may be available for eligible candidates applying for certain roles

The Field Engineering organization is a fast-paced, entrepreneurial team whose focus is bridging the gap between MongoDB official database products and the reality of our services organizations who are “boots on the ground” and often rely upon quickly created tools to assist customers with modernizing their application code and architectures. The sort of projects we work on are varied, but include a combination of research, proof of concept, and product development. Since we focus on GenAI, this includes working with LLMs, parsing tools, agentic frameworks, etc. Our tools are immediately usable, experimented on, and then refined by a broad engineering team worldwide.

As an intern, you will work on one or more of these GenAI projects with dedicated mentors who will help you learn the nuances of product software development. During your internship, you will have the opportunity to make a meaningful impact on a production codebase with a team committed to you having a positive experience!
